Check out as many of the guides here as you can stand to read, but being you're only running two accounts, not all of it will apply. Here's what I did. I don't claim its the best or most efficient way, but its the way I did it.
I use one machine. I have multiple computers, but chose to use my best one to run two windowed instances of the game from two seperate WoW folders on the hard drive. I chose to BUY keyclone rather than use Octopus which is free. I run my main in a larger window that takes up all but a few inches of the screen, then a smaller 1024x768 that sits behind that so I can see both mini maps and/or click over to the second one in a jiffy.
The steps:
1. Set up your RAF free trial account.
2. Copy your entire WoW folder to another location on your hard drive and rename it WoW2 or whatever. Make a shortcut to the second exec file and rename it WoW2.
3. Go into your main acct video options and set it for windowed mode and the minimum resolution you'd want to play.
4. Run your second WoW client and log in your trial account. Make a couple chars, group them, set the 2nd to follow the first and run around doing stuff, go to a city, at this point this is only to insure your hardware will support running two instances of WoW.
5. Tweak up the video settings, resolution, etc.
6. Buy and install keyclone.
7. Run keyclone with only your two WoW programs running. Put things like wasd, enter, and escape on the do not pass list.
8. Make a couple chars that you want to play, and set up macros.
You definately need to see the guides here on Keyclone (or octopus if you choose that) and using macros. There you will find the details on how to do the things I listed above. Enjoy.

No. You can't - it won't work. Once you get a taste of how fun it is playing more than one char, you'll do whatever it takes to multi box.

First, you will need two WoW accounts. You will need to make a copy of your WoW exe file or use a second computer to play them both at once.

Absolutely. I raid sunwell and respec my main shaman enhancement regularly. I also play my prot pally solo, and am able to mix and match my groups whenever I like (5x ele, 4x ele / 1x prot pally, 4x ele / 1x resto, 3x ele / 1x resto / 1x prot pally.... you get the idea)
Macro management can become an issue. You can either copy/paste your WTF folder whenever you want to swap, or use mods like TrinityBars to make button templates so you can swap macros, keybindings, etc on-the-fly. :)
