Vista Wireless Internet

Well when I used XP to disable the WZC ... But now in Vista if you disable the thing it knocks out your whole internet.. Is there anyway to stop vista from refreshing your wireless connection?

EDIT: Its not a wireless card.. I have more than 1 computer in my house so I have to be wireless unless we wired it through the basement etc. Soooo I was just wondering if there was a way to disable the internet from refreshing the connection

Had some problems myself losing connection so i made a program that automaticly renews your connection with command prompt commands, wrote it myself so you're safe from keyloggers and other unwanted crap. Can post sourcecode if you want...

its not the fact that I lose connection its that every 60 secs it refreshes the connection.. giving a lag spike

im using a program called Vista Anti-Lag

EDIT: Seems to be working.. It lowered my Ping and I don't have internet related lag anymore.

I think the big question here is why are you using wifi to play video games? Get a LAN connection mang! its only like a shit ton faster. If you can't get one I understand so go back to win xp as most people here can tech that OS out.

I do use LAN Im not using WIFI lol I use a wireless internet adaptor though. Just so I can get a signal from my router to get internet :P

I use my (wireless) laptop at home all the time to play wow when friends are over, and honestly, there is very little difference.

Maybe if you have 20ms pings to the server you might notice, but for most of us (100+), the difference is negligible. Or at least it is for me.

Ok so what happens is that Vista does a check every 60 secs to make sure it's connected to the strongest wireless network available - sounds like a great idea in theory, in practice it screws with online gaming. The good news is that it's easy to fix, it's just a setting change - here's what you need to do:

Go start - run
Type cmd.exe and enable the tick to run as administrator.
Type netsh wlan show interfaces
It should now show all the wireless lan interfaces on the computer. You want whats in the name field of the interface (network card) you are useing.

Now type netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface="XXXXXXX" and press enter. Replace XXXXXXX with the interface name, usually it's simply "wireless network connection". This turns off the 60 second check. Change enabled=no to enabled=yes if you wish to re-enable this.
