Lets see if I can describe my problem.

I am running 5 accounts on a single box. i do not have all the stats in my head or here at work but I think I am running the following

4gm ram, 2.4 Hz quad core, 9800 gtx 512mb sli video cards x 2 (linked) that is all I can remember for now.

I get a lot of follow lag(for want of a better term) when going though major cities or loading into a bg. I associate a core to a each wow client and i double up on a core with 2 clients with the hope that this will alleviate follow lag.

Would i see a reduction in city / follow lag if I added a second hard drive and ran 2-3 wow clients on it and 1-2 clients on the main hard dive? I am planning on adding another 4 gb of ram as well to see if it helps.

If you had limited funds would you go a second hard drive?

any thoughts or suggestions welcome.

Are you running with max video settings?

Check keyclone setting to see if you have reduced the FPS of non active windows.

This might seem a daft idea but try removing one of your gfx cards and see if you get the same issue.

I've heard of a few problems with SLI cards.

I run an old 8800 GTS , quad core and 4 gig of ram and i can run 5 characters just fine.

As for your question regarding a 2nd hard drive, i dont think your problems have anything to do with space / drive performance.

Also if you have 4 gig of ram at the moment, adding another 4 gig of ram wont help at all. Each copy of wow will only use 300-400mb of Ram anyway so you still have loads left over. It would be wasted cash.

Use your main hard drive for your main character and the second hard drive for your 4 slaves. You should see a HUGE performance increase associated with "follow lag".

I went from not being able to run through Shatt at all to only slowing down ONCE for my slaves to catch up. Did a complete circle run during prime time...... amazing results.
