I think EB Games has had their pre-order page up for over a year now.

EDIT: Ok, maybe not a full year, but here's a post from Dec 2007 about EB Games' preorder page: http://www.wowinsider.com/2007/12/21/ebgames-has-fun-with-wotlk-listing/.

Have 6 CE on order already, but I'm thinking the release date will be the 28/11

Gives them a chance to get it to the stores before Thanksgiving (for the US peoples) and would be 4 years to the day for original release. I think if they aren't going to push for it as an Xmas release then doing it on the aniversary makes a nice point..I think they would have done that for TBC too but they needed to adjust for Vanguard being delayed.

If they're going to sell it this year (which they publicly stated they were going to already).... its going to be BEFORE black friday (day after thanksgiving).

its going to be a HOT stocking stuffer for Xmas. Activision isn't stupid...

Yeah, I meant to point out when I made that qualifier that they were def dropping it this year, so my bad :)

I'm curious though why you think it woulnd't happen after thanksgiving?..Is that usually the day for big sales in the US, so it would be assumed they'd want to sell it at a time they can get full pricepoint for it?

I mean I can see them possibly dropping it earlier (the 3rd would be what, 2 weeks after Blizzon) but I think that date is still too early for the exact reason you said....if people want to use it for a stocking stuffer then selling it closer to december makes more sense because otherwise people would be out buying copies to get playing with rather than wait for the present version.

For us non-US citizens, what date is Black Friday?

My money is on a Mid - Late November release.

Pricing in Austarlia for those interested will be $64.99 for the standard edition, and $94.99 for the limited edition.

Cheers,

S.

The day after Thanksgiving, traditionally the #1 shopping day of the year in the states. It was named Black Friday because that is the day that many retailers finally made it "into the black." Which is an accounting term for assets > liabilities, or profit.

Also, Dick Smith are doing a $10 down, $10 off deal so if you want to pre-order with somewhere like EB make sure to get the price-match

I remember when the preorders were first available, they all had a late November date as a placeholder. About 2-3 months ago when I checked most stores had changed the date to 11/3 so my bet is that the plan is early November if all goes well. I doubt a company as large as Blizzard wants to release this too close to the holiday season, nor would I like it either. Too much going on with kids during that time. Pre-holiday season would be great though, playing DK through the Thanksgiving weekend. :)

The real question for me is, Who is going to win out?

Activision pushing Blizzard to release the game prior to Christmas?

-OR-

Blizzard pushing the date back a couple of months till the game "is ready."

Well after AoC and WAR, i think the new thing is to get the game out before it is ready. :P

But in all honesty i hope to god they push it back. The further back the better (well at least for me)
