I have performed some major revisions to the article concering Multiboxing on wowwiki, see the first page at http://www.wowwiki.com/Multiboxing

To meet the standards of the wiki I had to remove much of the personalization from Xzin. I also split the page into multiple sections, the main section giving an overview of what it is, how its done, and what is needed.

I separated the software and hardware needed into their own pages. I still have all the original text Xzin put into the original article and will be moving portions back where appropirate.

My next pages related to the base article will be.

Multiboxing Macros
Multiboxing How to play

I would like some community help on this. We have some suggested macros spread through out the pages here but I am going to try to put a lot up on the Wiki.

I am also going to look for tips on setting up the actual bars (there is a great example in the macro section using warlocks and priests). Also in the How to Play section I want to deal with using non-standard classes, like Hunters and Melee characters. I might even devote a comment to that 5 box Shaman succesful attempt.

Also, what addons should I suggest? Right now I put forward bartender3 and pitbull but I know there are other favorites. I like most ACE2 addons but they are not all appropriate to this play.

So, if you can, post links to the best examples here or post some ideas. I plan on getting the bulk of the page work done with in two weeks.

thanks (Sharlin of WOWWIKI)

Wow, you really did a number on my FAQ. It sorta went away except a little bit at the bottom. I don't mind it being rewritten but (and I am biased here) I do feel that a great deal of what I wrote is relevant, even if it was not as Wikified from the beginning as it could have been. I don't mind sharing the information (I would not have made it public otherwise) but perhaps incorporate a bit more of the specifics into the Wiki? I like the concept but right now it still needs a bit more work to truly be comprehensive.

Make sure to check out the other pages.

As before, I haven't finished yet. I had to split the page to get within the kilobyte limits as well as edit out the "personalization" - basically the "I did" "I think" as that can be kept but only in certain areas.

I have been off wowwiki for a long time because of conflicts with the admins before.

The bulk of what you posted is still there, just on three pages instead of one. I plan to expand it further to give a more complete picture of multiboxing to get more people interested in it as well as dispel the myths associated with it.

All of the original text has been preserved at http://www.wowwiki.com/User_talk:Sharlin/Multiboxing

Hmm.... I agree it needs to be split up and incorporate more material to make it cohesive. I still remain optimistic about it being ultimately more helpful than my FAQ alone.

well wowwiki isn't going to be the definitive source on this subject.

It however may be the first source many people come across and I am making sure to keep links to this site present and obvious.

I do hope to make it much more than it is, having the bulk of the information in more than one place is always a good thing.

Race Selection:
"Dwarves have a Fear Ward as well but it must be cast ahead of time."

Dwarf PRIESTS have a Fear Ward. Draenei PRIESTS also have a fear ward.

Either way, it's becoming irrelevant. Fear Ward will be nerfed in 2.3 and all priests will have it - Dwarves and Draenei will get a holy stun instead.

"Blood Elf who have the ability chain two second stuns."
It's actually a silence, not a stun.

You should also mention here that these class preferences are PvP influenced. I see little to no suggestions in that paragraph for preferred PvE racials. Simple solution: "Some consideration of racial abilities is warranted for PvP."

Naming
I've actually found, for PvP, that the identifying letter should happen near the END of your name.
Example: Xzin, Azin, Bzin etc
Enemy player can simply /target X and get Xzin

Alternate: Zinx, Zina, Zinb
Enemy player must type out the full name to get to the identifying letter. /target x does not work - they must type the full name. Works better when used with an excessively long and hard-to-type name.
Example: Foobarroflcoptera, Foobarroflcopterb, Foobarroflcopterc

See someone /target you now!

Anyway, that's all I have to nitpick over for now. If it weren't for that wowwiki page, I would've never made it to this site. So kudos to wowwiki and Xzin for writing it up. :) Bravo to cleaning it up. :)

Works for me Vnydree

I am going to concentrate on macros and bars next. That is the area I am having the most difficulty with and so I figure it is the best are for me to work on to overcome that problem.

Yeah, I actually thought about that. In retrospect that or the ililililiiliA name sequence would be IDEAL if you have EVERYTHING macroed. If you don't then it becomes a pain in the ass for YOU.

But yes, if you wanted to be TRULY AMAZING at PvP (by getting that extra last little edge out) then I would do iililililill (random combinations) then A-D,X at the end (or whatever).

Makes it harder to heal though without custom UI mods to parse the name and put it back at the front too.

But if you REALLY wanted to go all out - that is what I would do.

In any of these scenarios, they would just have to use the identifing portion of your name to accomplish the same thing. /target lia, /target lib, /target lic, etc

Not sure if that would work ......
