Setup:

1xProt Paly, 1x CoH Priest, 3x Fire Mage

all lvl 66

Ok so every single instance I have faced so far has given me no problems (even did blood lord in ZG at 65). Shirrak the Dead Watcher though is kicking my a**. The best attempt so far has gotten him down to 75%. Problems I am facing:

200% casting debuff- Being a all caster team, this is brutal. Luckly my priest has very good gear for her level, and renews+shield can keep my tank alive. However my dps is nothing. I tried switching to arcane missles, but could just not DPS enough before the next problem which is

Attract Magic/Carnivorous Bite - This is what kills me every time. After he pulls my group to him, i'm trying desperatly to move them away (a spread out macro or simply backward) and putting renews on everyone (with xkeys its easy, but still time consuming). I have yet to survive this combo.

I thought about putting a PW Shield and renew up on my paladin, and then moving the boss away (im tanking him at the top of the stairs, team is at the bottom) to reset the casting debuff (it only has a 3-5 second timer and it does have a range check). I haven't tried this trick yet, but I will this weekend.

So are there any tips on avoiding the attract magic and the bite? Is there a different spec I could try on my mages? (Maybe full arcane?)

P.s. yes I know I could probably skip this instance, but i'm trying to complete every outland dungeon at the level suggested (been succesful so far)

Hots, shields, PoM.

Pull him to the wall with your tank to give your dps more room to move.

Arcane missles and fireblast rotation.

As for staying away from the flares(assuming your healer is your main), try setting your dps in one spot and your healer about 15 yards away. When a flare is called on your healer, just move easily. When a flare is called on your dps press follow and then set them back to dpsing where they stop while moving your priest to a new location. Try do do this swapping at max range of course. If your tank is called, just strafe him to the side along the wall a bit.

He's meant to be hell for casters, goodluck.

I feel your pain. My pal/4x shammy team ran into him last night (at level 70 no less) and wiped around 6 times. I tried a few strats, and got him to 38% at one point. I feel it can be done with the right amount of luck, but I don't think I have the patience to keep burning repair bills on him when I'm trying to save for flying mounts. My next run through AC, I'm going to just run right by him as far as I can, then reincarnate/resurrect the group. I'll skip him until I'm way overgeared later, but not the instance.

I haven't tried tanking him against the back wall. I'll try that. That might make it easier to just back the team up to reset the casting debuff. (my tank is my main)

I believe the casting debuff is worse the closer you are to him. If you stand at max range it only increases cast speed by 50% I believe.

I haven't done this in a while but I did do it around the appropriate level. Anyhow, I set my team up near the top of the stairs and then turned them around. Once I pulled with my tank I ran past the group and down the stairs. Each time he pulled the team to him I had my tank drag him further back towards the beginning of the instance that way I didn't have to worry about moving the shaman.

lol I just took my 4 shaman + pally to crypts and he wiped the floor with me. Its do-able, I got him to 25% twice, but keyclone sometimes sends my toons on a straight line without stopping when I strafe them all and that is death.

After 3 wipes i just ran my entire group past him, and past the 2 monks after his room, and died in the little L hallway. One of the shamans anked up and could rez everyone without aggroing anything. Screw this boss!

Hey I got the first boss!!!

It wasnt that bad. Here is what I did.

Step 1:

Wait till he pats back away from stairs then proceed up with the 5 shaman squad.

Step 2:

Drop totems. 2 of the 5 shamans dropped Earthy. (Earth Ele)

Step 3:

Pull boss by shooting him once.

Step 4:

Earthies pick up boss. You run THROUGH boss to the other side. Setup totems.

Step 5:

Heal Earthies

Step 6:

Nuke boss

Step 7:

Profit :D

I came here and read the post on him before attempting. Then I came up with the strat. Seems to work rather well as I was able to 1 shot him with 4 lvl 67 shamans and 1 lvl 70 shaman in pvp blues.

from 5 Ele Shammys ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=10664')

5x elemental shamans can do almost every heroic in the game. Same with 1x paladin 4x elemental shamans.Correction, can do every heroic in game.

Shirrak the Dead Watcher

Inhibit Magic: This aura places a debuff on all players in its range, which increases casting time by 50% per stack. Stacks up to 4 times for a total of +200% to cast time. The maximum level of stacking is related to the distance the player stands from the boss; the closer you stand the higher it stacks. Casters can (and should) stand at maximum range to minimize the effect of this debuff.

I know I tried this once b/c it was the daily heroic it was impossible. Not sure if every heroic is possibleI'm aware of his abilities, he's actually not bad once you get the hang of him. Here's a video killing him on heroic, quality is kind of craptacular but you get the drift. Earth eles, searing totems, flame shocks, bloodlust, cast at max range, as soon as he flares run through him with lightning shield up, re flame shock (at this point he attracted me) and then just kite him around and defollow your followers so they can cast some more. I've been farming crypts since I was in S1, he's hardly that bad.

I speak from experience, as I have cleared every heroic in game.
