View Full Version : Is this possible with maximizer or some other configuration?

I want to play two accounts.
If I decide to play both of them on the same computer (I'll probably just use two computers/nostromo/synergy) would I be able to set up my screen (1600x1200) to show my main char on the left with something like 1300x1200 and my alt char to the right in (yes, I know its weird) 300x1200 - 300 wide, 1200 tall.
If I understand how maximizer works, this would let me set up a bunch of actionbars above my alt char in his screen and simply mouse over and click on heals/spells/macros etc. Also I can keep an eye on what's going on with my alt, whether an add is chomping on him, he got snagged while running around, etc.
Possible? Practical?

What you describe is certainly possible, although I couldn't tell you how to setup the standalone Maximiser because I've never used it.
It's probably even practical to a certain degree, but I don't really understand why you wouldn't want to go with a key broadcasting solution instead of relying on mouse clicks. There are free solutions around, if cost is an issue.
If you play on a single machine, don't forget that you'll actually need three clicks for each icon you want to click: one to get focus, one to perform the action, one to get focus back on the other window. You could reduce the number of clicks by globally enabling Focus Follows Mouse (http://shellrevealed.com/forums/7690/ShowThread.aspx), but that in itself is fraught.
Have a look around the Software Tools (http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Board&boardID=35) forum for software broadcasting solutions. They really are your best bet.

Ok, sounds like I should just forget the software solution and stick with using two computers. I'm only going to be playing two accounts.
Do any of the software key broadcasters work on a client on another machine? I saw discussion on the hardware options for this, but I don't think I saw anything on using something like keyclone.
I guess my Nostromo is the best option - that's what I used when I multi-boxed DAoC.

I'm not sure where you drew that conclusion from - playing two accounts on a single machine is a very efficient way to play :)
Yes, most of the software solutions - including Keyclone - work on both single and multiple hosts.
Have a look at the Wiki and the Software Tools forum - there's a precis of each option there, and it'll only take you a few minutes to get an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of each.
If you go with Keyclone, and stick to two machines, be aware that you need two licences - one per machine.
