I knew when I built my computer I should've gotten something other than an SB, but i decided not to switch. Well now I'm paying. Apparently the new voice chat patch has a problem with Sound Blasters and other select cards. Can't even log in and stay in for 1 minute without crashing.

Blizzard gets rid of 1 problem and makes 8 more :(

About 10 years ago or so when the sound blaster live! was first introduced, they also had a value card for around 40.00. Creative was THE sound card to get back then. I had my card for around a year or so and went to download the newest drivers and creative wanted me to PAY for the software updates. Ever since then I have never given them a second thought.

Does your motherboard have integrated audio? If so, you can just disable the creative card and use that.

That's what I did also, doesn't work :( $20 sound card vs onboard audo = lose.

I'm running a Creative AudioPCI (ADI 1373 chip) which is an ancient card (circa 1998) and having zero issues. Using the native XP drivers for it. Are you by chance running Vista?

Nope using Windows XP Pro, and the sound is great but the mic on it sucks. I have to used the onboard audio for my mic, or else every few minutes it will just go SHCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH and make everyone deaf.

I believe all the issues are to do with EAX, EAXHD and AdvancedHD. All proprietary Creative technlogies designed for hardware audio aceleration.

Turn of EAX in your Creative Sound Panel - and force WoW to use Software Sound. How you do this I am unaware... but try.

cancelled my accounts, piss-poor support and attitude from Blizzard on the sound, latency and FPS issues, so screwem, I'll do something else with my money for a while

Nah, I was waiting for a new PC to arrive, so I hadn't played WoW for a few weeks, tested 2.2 and saw the mess... Decided I didn't miss WoW all that much anyways, so why continue to pay for something that was annoying me and I wasn't enjoying? :)

Latency if that works (when the servers are back up) then me love you long time.

And shogun, what game are you playing now. I've been looking for games besides WoW, but I can't find any good MMORPGs or anything. I tried Guild Wars, but it was kind of lame. City of Villans looks nice though.

A bunch of my old guildies are digging Hellgate: London. I tried Tabula Rasa and found it a bit lacking but cool overall.

Wow Hellgate: London looks sweet...kind of looks like a Diablo 3. I'm definately going to have to give that a try.

Latency you're a genius, it worked!

Edit: NVM it worked for like 10 minutes then not.

Not playing much atm, waiting for the new PC to arrive, there's a host of games coming out this fall I'm looking forwards to, Tabula Rasa for some casual MMO time, Crysis is looking very nice, Hellgate: London looks great too, and it kind of is Diablo 3... it's made by the same team that made D1 and D2 :)

Wow a blizzard post actually fixed it FOR ONCE. Turns out there's a conflict between HD soundcards or something, but I had to disable my Realtek HD in the device manager.

When I started up I had 20 fps, and couldn't figure out why. Then I saw I had 3 wows open accidentally *slap to face*

Blizzard support isn’t that bad :) . I’ve played a lot of MMO over the years.

FFXI, L2,COV,MAT,EQ,EQ2,WOW,VAN,

To name a few lol. SOE, NCSOFT both I’ve had a lot of trouble with. Looking at Blizzard in general it doesn’t seem that great but after my experiences with all the other games I must say I was most impressed with a match up comparison.

I have horror stories with SOE mostly.

I too had been having sound problems ... turned out it was my speaker settings in my SB control panel.

For some reason it was set to 7.1, so only having a 2.1 deployment I of course was losing out because of sound channels going off into the nether.

 Phrack!!!!!

The only problem with the new sound is when I cast totemic recall on my shammies.

Used to be this nice little *whoosh* and all your totems disappear.

I logged on my 70 shammy to do a couple AV's this weekend and I'm like... "well, better clean up these totems and move on", and it was like this giant WHRRRAORSAEAASDASHSHHHHH!

I just so happened to be wearing my headset (since I wanted to try out voice chat too -- nobody uses the damn thing) and I nearly blew out my ears. Don't know why - for some reason that one spell has a billion times the volume of any other in game sound.

Apparently they're fixing "spell sounds" in the mini-patch before 2.3. I hope they noticed totemic recall.

So blizz helped me fix the problem. Turns out I had to disable Realtek HD from the device manager. Now it works no problem. Kinda funny it's fixed once I start playing Hellgate: London beta.
