I have transfered my hunter; my oldest character fwiw; to one of my other accounts to help push some characters through difficult levels or run them individually through low end instances (no higher than ZF/Ulda)

I normally play full screen on the 70th... as I can react very well when needed with her with much better force than trying to mainscreen the low level

What I am looking at is what skills to keep on her quick bars that are in useful slots on another character...

with my priest / hunter test I was doing (priest / hunter)

1 = wand / empty
2 = smite / steady shot
3 = self renew / empty
4 = renew party / empty
5 = poh / empty
6 = assist hunter / mark and send pet
7 = follow hunter / empty
8 = empty / scorpid
9 = shield self / empty
0 = fade / empty

Other hunter skills, like pet heal, feeding, stun, etc, are on an action bar without hotkey activation

I do know I need to add ALT-keys for
Accept macro (trade/etc)
Mount
Buffs
Food
Drink

Anyway...

Looking for suggestions... also looking for suggestions if Iwere to reverse the role of primary character. I figure having the priest as main screen would open up more options - kind of like having your own personal hunter in the back pocket but then targeting and sending the pet would be a bit messier I think, plus I need a lot more keys to control the hunter

If you use "focus" as your primary means of assisting/targetting you could set up a couple hotkey macro's for changing your focus. Such as using F9 to make your hunter the focus and F10 to make your Priest the focus. Then all of your macro's could be built upon 'assist focus."

For fighting here an example of some macros if it helps. I would have the following macro's bound to my "F" key.

Priest:
/assist focus
/castsequence reset=target/combat Smite, Mindflay

Hunter
/assist focus
/petattack
/castsequence reset=target/combat Serpent Sting, Arcane Shot

I use my number keypad for my main character, use the regular number keys for my clones, then create a couple battle macro's that auto assist and cast spells.

As far as buffs, I use SmartBuff add-on which casts buffs with a scroll of a mouse wheel based on my settings so I don't have it taking up slots. Auto-bar is another good add-on which you can bind keys to without taking up action bar slots for using items/food/drink/scrolls/etc.

Just suggestions, hope this helps.

going to be dumb here...

but WOW handles the number keys on the pad differently than those on the main part of the keyboard?

Not dumb at all :D Yes it does. It appears as "NumberPad #" when pressing numberpad keys and just "#" when using the regular number keys. ("#" is assuming whatever number is pressed).

Nice.

Now I just need to figure out how to remember which keys I have setup for my hunter using the number pad method and move her to the minimized session. Then I won't have to worry about much overlap.

What I am ideally after is having the level 70 hunter available at will for about any class. If I can map her to just the number pad that may make it much simpler. The CTRL activate pet functions might give me some grief but if I can move the bulk of her specific commands to that number pad life gets simpler.

Hiyas;

I have been doing this with my alts for a bit and it has been fun learning.

For deadmines and scarlet monestary, run around with pet on passive and agro them all then use explosive trap and set your pet free. Not as exciting as using a mage on AOE, but fun nevertheless. Staying on the same target as your pet will help speed up clearing.

At alt level 35 i went to ZF. Here I have been single target killing the groups of 3 to 9. I have been averaging 30K non rested or 60K rested XP with a group of 3-4.

Not sure where i will head when ZF runs out, maybe BRD. Thinking about 3 boxxing lower level chars though, it sounds fun.

So far i have three accounts up and running keyclone.

I have only the numberpad keys sent via keyclone, these keys do nothing on my main. This is done via 'white-list' and then select only the keys i want passed. I have easily reachable keyboards for the other computers if i need to do any other stuff.

Keypad 5 - Follow main
Keypad 4 - Strafe left
Keypad 6 - Strafe right
Keypad 1 - Assist main - wand autofire
Keypad 3 - Assist main - Blast Castsequence (depends on class)
Keypad 2 - Back up - this stops autofollow and moves the alts out of AOE range

Thinking of using keypad 7 and keypad 9 for healing functions.

Will add more as i think of new things to do.

Right now i have:

70 Hunter (~225dps+150dps pet) (Doing ZF runs)
with - 40 Mage - 40 Priest - 40 Warlock

Plan to move to more difficult ground soon.
