many questions from a newbie at 5 boxing

I've read suvegas, vyndrees and xzin guides and found them all very helpful, thank you.

so it got me started, fairly easy enough too

I'm 5 boxing on a core 2 2.6ghz with 8800gtx and 4gb of ram on vista OS. using dual 19" wide monitors

1 pally and 4 locks all lvl 1, i'/m not boosting right now because i dont understand what boosting involves yet. i think on the long hual i'll have to upgrade as i see lag. 5 wows on my PC, and i think i can tell lag between wow isntances when casting. but besides that I can do some basic 5 boxing but I find myself plagued with little things that I'm not sure how to fix.

Issue
1. i have problems getting and turning in quests

i place this on the action abr in same spot for each toon and bind it to a key, but when i hit the f12 key nothing happens so i cant make this one work,. I end up having to click on each windowed wow to accept quests. this is a big downside for me is having to use each toon to talk to NPC, like repairing, i manually have to tell each toon to repair, Rez, get quests, acceopt quests and turn in quests, this has become quite tedious for me, not sure how to get round this if the macro wont work for me.

2. dying, when i die I dont understand how to set a new leqader to assist, and put the leaders screen on my main display 1.
display 1 has the main tank only, display 2 has 4 windows for the other 4 toons. when the tank dies its disaster because my alts become useless, not sure how to toggle leader

3. inviting, i have to make each one invite manually, i even use a mod called autoinvite but for some reason it wont work. is it because these are trial accounts?

4. how to repair the 4 toons that follow the tank? i dont have enough gold for them to repair or train and i cant trade gold to my toons because trial accounts cant see to trade at all. so i've not figured out how to train my wralocks.

5.the auto follow is not reliable, is there a way onscreen to warn me that no one is following me anymore?

6. mouse problems. how to make mouse click on same buttons? ie, accepting a quest and such? i have to click on each wow window when i'd be nice to click on my display one only.
so far i'm having to go between each wow window, 2 -5 to accept, rez, train, repair and such...

7. i click alot with the mouse and i notice if i click on a spell on an action bar that has no keybinds to it, it wont send that to the other wow windows, i'm assuming this is because each spell on the action bars all have to have some kind of keybind. I make macros, put them on action bar, repeat this for toons but when i click it with mouse nothing happens, my work around is tobind a key, easy enough

8. a big problem i have is movement, if a mob moves past my toons follwing and assiting my tank they can't cast speel because its LOS. what i ebd upm doing is beinding the W key and the backward movement, so when they are too close or mobs have run behind them i hit W to make then walk backwards so the can cast. if i do follow and assit that seems to fix it but i was wondering if there was a way to spread them out, so they dont all stand on top of each other. using the W comes in handlty because when i run in to attack mobs i hit w, that mkes toons stop follwing me, i tank mobs then assist, and this helps because locks are out of ahrms way. but very frustrating when some mobs rush me and run past the toons who can no longer shoot them because they not facing the right way.

9. making a change to a macro in game is very tedious when u want to add it to each toon so what i do is go to windows explorer go to wtf folder and copy yhr macro cache, i copy this to c:wow1, c:wow2, etc etc it gets real old to copy updated macro file to each wow folder, is there an easier way to automate, say copy this file to these 5 folders and overwrite? i'm looking for an easier way to make changes to my macros on toon2 then copy those changed macros, while wow is closed to each other folder?

10. i use keyclone/maximizer and i'm liking it but have problems. if I do say a control-f12 to swap windows it does nto seem to work, i can swap widows, ie, region 1 from display 2, i can swap it out for display 1 but then i can not put regio1 bqack to region 2 or where it came from. so then my tank ends up being on the side monitor sharing 3 other windows which is too small for me to play as main windows, i wish to revert all regions with maxizimer back to normal.

11. how to do horizonta span, i wish to takes to monitors and make it a 1 monitor but stretch it across both. so far i can only do this per display but unable to use both as one desktop. each monitor is its own 1440x990 resolution where as i'd like to try 2880x990. but i'm not able to figure this one out, i tried nvidia control panel but i dont see horizontal span options anywhere. simply extend option



the big things i'd love to figure out is how to make all toons at same time, accept quest, get quest, rez. i can click on my main window for my tank but then i must repeat this for each wow window, i've tried various macros but none worked, which is posted above,.



for right now i' think i'm having enough to use 1 pc to play all 5 wows even though my processor peaks at near 100% msot of the time but fps on screen is ok about 30 and if i go to heavy place like IF or sw it drops down to 8fpshence why i'd like to try horizontal span because that should consume much less fps, i hear.

i do find it very consufing setting up the bars, i use a nostromo so i setup 1 -9 on my nostromo gamepad and worsk great but 1-9 is not same spells as on locks bars so when i hit 2 on pllay screen it does shadow bolts on my lock toons which works out fine but what happens when i fill up my action bar 1-9 with spells on nostromo then can't add anymore because, i suspect i'm not doing this part right, i need to try and figure out an easier way to cast something on my main tank and not have that interfere with the locks action bars. essentially


what is boosting? when i rush a party of lowbies thru deadmines with my mage, when i kill its literally gives them no XP and i think blizzard has done this intentionally. so if i take 4 lowbies with my 70 mage, i can kill everything super easy but the 4 other members barely get any xp. so if i replace the tank with a toon about same lvl they get alot more xp, say 100 plus where as with my mage its like 2 to 3 xp, so i dont understand the advanatge of boosting- using a lvl 70 to run lowbies theu deadmines when a regualr 5man group all same lvl will generate more xp - maybe i'm wrong

hey thanks, i iwll try this multiboxer v2, that sounds like it will fix the accept quest problems, whihc was a big head ache

the next big headache, and believ it or not i read all those links ya provided but i'm unable to quite grasp my next biggest problem. i think my brain may be too small to comprehend the giant magnitude of what I'm trying to do or wish to do.

my pally is the mains in the group, i'm at hogger, i press W so the warlocks stop following me, i want them to dps from afar. I send in my pally, let him gain agro for 1 sec or 2, i have my mouse button bound to keystroke 2 on my actionbar. slot 2 on my actionbar is a macro,
/cast seal..
/cast judegement

so when i press 2, same as my mouse button, he seals and does a judegment then about 2 sec later the warlocks send in their shadowbolts. on the locks, action bar 1 slot 2 is shadowbolt. so when i play my pally and seal n judge, i get shadow bolts that follow. this works fine but i can see things gettin complicated because if I press 3, pally heals and locks do armor buff

how to not make locks do what pally does?

is this done with hotstrings in keyclone, i could not quite understand very well how to use that part as there is no documentation nor examples i can load.
its onyl going o get worse as i level because i'll get so many mroe spells to put on action bars then the dilemma is i hit a number on action bar which ends up doing 2 things at same time.

so my current strategy is to pair up the action bars, so when i hit 2 it does something good on both classes. i'm just worried about when i grow out of room on my action bars. i'm trying to keep it super simple right now because i can not grasp playing to classes at exact time, so basically pally tanks and the locks do only one thing, cast shadowbolts, this is done with a nostromo gamepad, i create an auto repeat macro which is F9, so when i hit F9 its sends keystroke 2 and this macro is on my right action bar. so my pally does not cast anything on his bar on slot 2 but the locks all cast shadowbolt over and over as i got f9 on auto repeat function on the nostromo. all i have to do is make sure to assist correctly.

i tried the multiboxer v2 but could not figure it out alas, has no instructions on, a white box appears in middle of screen, cant move it and cant do anything with it, could nto figure out the command line to use it??

in my addons i see two, one is the putbull says missing a dependency yet i d/l the package. so is the package missing another addon that is needed?

does not make much sense, both say multiboxer but one has pitfull which needs another addon

i got on my mains and sent 10 gold to each toon, but it never arrives? trial account means u can't trade or receive mail?? i currently have no gold for my 4 slaves, they cant train or repair because they are compeltely broke.

the only way i can think of making them get gold is to lvl each one by himself

trial accounts:
1. cannot start a group - but can be invited to a group
2. cannot send/receive mail
3. cannot use Auction Houses
4. Cannot trade items/gold
5. cannot join guilds
-- among other things --

as for the gold that you mailed to the trial accounts - if you don't activate the trial accounts to "full" accounts, i believe it will be returned to you by mail in 30 days when the mail expires from the trial account's mailboxes. The best way to build up the gold on the trial accounts is to use "lmaster loot" and give all of the loot to the trial accounts so they can vendor them. Not a perfect solution, but worth it at least until you have enough gold/silver to buy bags for each of them from a bag vendor.

Multiboxer v2 will solve a couple things for you

1. auto accept group invites - just add your main as a friend to each of your slaves
2. auto accept quests and auto accept shared quests -
instead of accepting the quests on each toon, you can accept it on your main and then use the "share quest" button to get your slave in on the action
3. auto follow after combat
4. auto taxi at flight points - although i've had trouble with this lately.
5. auto repair - i think it does it

to configure,
1. click on the "screw" widget on your minimap that says "addon preferences"
2. click the drop down in the top left corner and select "multiboxer"
3. go through the various selections and set it up
a. do not enable auto follow on your main :)
b. there is one config screen that you will have to adjust the size of your addon prefs window size - just grab the bottom right corner and drag right to see all of the options.

as for the switching "mains" after a death - i think that keyclone is the best for that using hotkeys to swap PiP

after a wipe, use your standard macro to /follow your main - even better, have a class that can rez, then you only have to corpse run that one and rez everyone else. if using a priest or shaman to rez, DO NOT click "release" on any toon except the rezer

Move your warlock armor buff to a different action bar hotkey and place something else in it's place that you would want them to do when your pally cast judgements. An alternative would be to simply mouseclick the judgement button, which would mean you are not pressing the hotkey and no commands would pass to the warlocks. Another option is to use the "do not pass list" in keyclone, and set that judgement key to not pass to the clones. It will work in the main window, but not go to the other windows.

About the auto repeat macro's, those are illegal. I use a nostromo as well, and I assure you you can get in trouble for it. Same with the logitech G15 keyboards and such. They've warned me before when I used to solo and had a few macros set up for crafting.

Here's what I do for more hotkey's on my n52. I use a 5 button mouse with a button for my thumb. I set that thumb button to "shift". Now, I have 14 action bar slots hotkeyed to the nostromo keys normally, and then I have 14 more action bar keys hotkeyed to the same nostromo buttons, but while holding shift. So say I press the top left nostromo key set as 1 and that's my shadowbolt. When I press shift and that top left nostromo key set as 1 it casts my shift+1 key which is corruption. Now, my mouse also has another thumb button just above the one I set to shift, and I set that button to "control". That allows me another 14 hotkeys set to the nostromo keys + control.

If you want to see my mouse, look up the logitech mx518 and you'll see the two thumb button that are really easy to get used to using as shift and control for tripling your nostromo keys.

how to give gold to slave toons?You can drag that box around by holding "alt". When you press the multiboxer button next to your minimap, you'll see all the options. You can hide that grey box (i do) or resize it inside the options. Pitbull is just another addon that has some things it shares with multiboxer and vice versa. You don't need it. I don't use pitbull, I use bongos3. When you get into the multiboxer options, you need to type in the name of your character you want as the master. You can also leave it as party1, which is the partyleader, but when you enter BG's and such party1 can be other players and it screws you up so I don't suggest it. Mine is set to "focus" so that they auto follow my focus character, just like the spell macros.

Gold, yes it sucks but not letting trial accounts trade is for the best and to help stop gold farmers using trade to sell gold and such. You will have to let your trial account do the looting quite often so that they can sell things. Probably best to set one of them as your main for a bit so you can loot easily.

The life of a multiboxer is not an easy one. People see the fireworks, but they don't see the work you do to put the show together. Learn to cope or don't.

Yes, you should replace it with your mains name if you plan to join other groups like in Battlegrounds, or you can use "focus" if you set up the macros for setting a focus on all of your characters. The reason I set it to "focus" is because if my main dies I can press a hotkey to set the focus of the characters that are still alive to a different character. Say my main dies, I change windows to the number 2 guy and press the focus #2 guy hotkey. Now he's leading the party and I can continue fighting with 4 guys while the main waits for me to rez him. If you set the multiboxer field to a specific name, like your main, your group will still try to follow him when your main dies. They're basically dead in the water and have to stand in one place while you try to finish the fight with your main dead.

For the auto repeat, just letting you know, do what you want but it's frowned upon in these forums as well. They try to keep it clean here, so probably best to keep that to yourself.

right now, since i'm lowbie i dont plan on BG so i left it to party1 since i'm always the leader, but when i die, and they all die we go to graveyard i have to rez each toon manually. i dont understand how to make multiboxer rez all 5 toons at same time from one window..

i tried master looter and my main pickups up, it does not give me the option to select who to give it to.



which makes me wonder can i forgor the trial, like upgrade it to full version so i can get past this trial nonsense? i'm more than willing to buy the 4 extra accounts right now as i cant train them or repair them.

I believe there are problems with it confirming quests in the background though, but it does auto accept trades, groups, release, resurrections.


You can also set up macros to transfer leadership if you want someone else in party1 position with this one.

Not sure about your master looter problem, but yes you can upgrade trial accounts to full accounts at any time. even the recruit a friend bonus accounts still receive the bonuses when upgraded.

for boosting, yes the gold picked up is shared, but for something like deadmines it's like less than a silver per loot. Get the greens and sell them instead, or just upgrade to full accounts and trade gold.

try alt dragging the box from the center of the box. I know it wasn't very accurate for me either. If you still have problems, try hiding it instead with the hide option. Also, try both alt keys, you may have some settings altered and the one you're using might not be what you're intending.

If you don't like multiboxerV2, there's another one called Toolboxtoolkit which is almost identical except with a different layout for options and looks. You can find that at

You can setup whispers or emotes in this one for your clones to follow you. "/followme" "/t name followme

using "master loot" - loot the mob and right click the item to give it to the proper slave. I forgot that master loot limits the distributable loot to greens or better so for your deadmines/stocks runs it might not be the best. Personally, I set mine up so that only mobs with greens or better sparkle - saves me from looting a bunch of junk, but i pass up on a fair amount of silver/gold.

Disable all those other addons but Multiboxer v2.
Add your Main as a friend on all of your slaves.
then try to invite them.

Multiboxer v2 will do all of the things you are try to do with that script.

i wanted to thank you for your patience and the time you took to read my long rant.

a small frustration i have still are:
when doing quests - those i cant share, i have to click on each wow window to process the quest get and turn in. is there a way so when my mouse click on a button it passes this to my other 4 windows in maximizer? me thinks this can't be done with 1 PC using keyclone.



when main tank dies, leader, i've not figured out hwo to make the focus target macro work.

does this focus macro need to be unique for each toon on their hotbar? if tank dies, can i pass leader to say member2 that way my universal /assist party1 will still work, but can i assign a command to do this while my tank is dead?



i think those are the only 2 issues i have left, assigning a new tank for main and trying to figure out how not to micro manage the other windows so much. like dying and at graveyard the /follow macro fails but only works when i'm alive. and when we die, i gota make each toon talk to the res lady, i never run back.



another small problem is the PiP, sometimes keyclonse will not swap screens. i double check to make sure main monitor has focus but nothing happens. if i wait say like 5 min then try again then it will work. in heat of combat the pip is not reliable, too many times it wont swap, i've made sure my regions are correct. and when it does work all screens swap perfect but then later on it fails, so i know its setup right
