As I posted in the WoW Forums:

I understand bad streaks can and do happen but I just want clarification on a few things:

First, in the recent past, any looter could see the plan as long as someone in the group had the profession, has this reverted back to the old way of only the person with the profession being able to see it?

Second, are there any plans that not only require the profession but also a particular skill level?

The reason I ask is becuase I have been farming a particular plan and am currently over 300 kills. I've seen reports of people getting close to 500 kills so I know this isn't completely out of the norm but I wan't to make sure I'm not missing something. I tried opening a ticket in game for clarification but they believe this falls under the category of game hints and won't assist me.

Thanks.

when i was farming my Enchanting plans from Geomancers in BEM i farmed for 2 weeks with the loot on FFA and just glancing over at the other screen to see if it would pop up. Never popped up for her to loot it. So finally i put it on Group loot and just went about that for 2 hours and it popped up on her screen.
Might have been random but i think that the FFA has something to do with greens that you cant use popping up.. so you might try on group loot for a while... i know its a pain.. but worth it.

I'm still using FFA but I've definately been checking on my other toon more often but your post doesn't assure me very much since I just got the plan you are referring to within the last couple weeks in less than an hours time using FFA. It's still in my bank since my enchanter can't learn it yet. Guess I'm just having a bad streak on my current plans.

Thanks though.

Try using Master Looter. That way yuou can see all items above a certain level, and just send it to the right toon, without having to divert you attention to another screen.

I see patterns when it is FFA, for instance I've found the enchant weapon: spellpower, jewelcrafting design: chaotic skyfire diamond, and enchant boots: fortitude, all on FFA, while my enchanter and my jewelcrafter are not the main who is looting them (they appear red for my main).

It took my however 500~ kills for the spellpower one...

I would love a mode where it's a combination of FFA and Master looter; specially when I run ppl with a 70 and I can't trust them to actually give back or select correctly need/greed [or are you saying that Master Looter doesn't require rotating who opens each corpse ?]

Then use Group Loot and on all follower set the "Skip Loot" option to Yes. Then only your main will be looting, but you'll still get all the standrd group loot popups. If the item you're after pops up, the main simply passes his roll, and the correct follower can then loot the body.

That said, Master Loot should work as well. I just use the Skip Loot thing so when I bring a guildie on a run, we loot one body each in equal rotation, and I only have one roll of the dice not 4.

Group loot also has the problem that you actually need to have someone (different) loot the corpse; when mboxing it's annoying to have to switch windows just to loot

My ideal loot would be:

1 (or more) person can loot all the corpse (ffa style), yet there would be a popup on 1 char (master looter) for items above threshold

or even better: you don't need to loot anything and get a popup for green and above anyway
