SO, I'm curious to see the thoughts of the multiboxing community around the new Blizzard refer-a-friend program that was announced today. Not only do you get 5 referrals to dish out to your new accounts for multiboxing, but you also get a new mount AND triple to expierience points for 90 days! Additionally, all the accounts that you refer and create can summon each other anywhere in game. Does anyone else see this as having a positive impact on the multiboxing community? My only regret is that I just purchased my 5 account about 1 month ago, about the time I started multiboxing. /SIGH.

From the FAQ:
What in-game benefits do we get while the accounts we play are linked?

1. Characters on both accounts can summon each other once per hour.
2. While adventuring with your linked friend/family member, you will each gain triple experience.
3. For every two levels the new player earns, the new player can grant one free level-up to a lower-level character played by the veteran player.
How long will I be linked to my recruit?

The link between the accounts will last for 90 days from the date that your recruit creates an account. Remember that for the link to work properly, your recruit must create a new World of Warcraft account using the 10-day trial key in your invitation email.
Do I always gain triple experience while I am linked to my recruit?

No, only when you are partied with a character on the linked account and both players are present when slaying the monster or completing the quest. Also, if the two characters are not the same level, only the lower-level character is given the experience boost.
Is quest experience tripled too?

Yes, but only if the quest was not trivial (gray difficulty) for either character.

If this affects boosting I will buy myself a new account and boost it with my 70 protadin.

Triple exp while boosting?

Is this active already or is it coming in a future patch?

I'm new to the WoW multi-boxing scene, but I've been a dual boxer for years now, starting back with eq1, AC, and DAoC. A little over a week ago I became interested in 2 or 3 boxing wow, so I made up two trial accounts(which expire on 8/8). I am so VERY HAPPY I waited to sub them. I ran out to Best Buy this morning, where they have the WoW Battle Chest for $29.99 and bought four copies. My existing account was already subbed and ready to go with BC.

I think this is a fantastic opportunity to get some quick levels through old fashioned questing instead of boosting, and sofar I'm having a blast. I made up two new accounts and subbed them, and its all working great with triple xp. The refer-a-friend page accurately lists the accounts as subbed, and I'm just waiting on the first free month to go by so I can get my mount. :P Sad they make us wait for the free month even if we put 2 or 3 months on up front.

I am going to create my second two accounts tomorrow, don't feel like playing anymore tonight. I was just testing the waters with 3 accounts before I launch headlong into 5 boxing. :P I have a pretty beefy Quad-Core system with two 8800gts cards in SLI mode, and I'm having no trouble with 3 clients on one pc. I'll most likely put the other two on my second box. I already bought my second copy of keyclone in anticipation. :)

Oh what a hobby. :) Sofar I'm enjoying myself, and I'm in awe at all the experienced folk here at dual-boxing.com. I have a lot to learn and will most likely be posting questions when I try to figure out the best way to setup and control 5 characters.

But to get back On Topic, I think this move by Blizzard will encourage multiboxers or at least people to get another account and dual box. It certainly did for me, and it came at the perfect time too. right before I was about to take the plunge and sub my previous two trial accounts. :P

P.S. on the subject of boosting, that's been discussed to death on this forum and the official wow forums. You'll get trival xp on your 70 (1xp) and triple that on your others (3xp). :P so you won't be able to boost with the triple xp RAF bonus. check around this site for more articles on Refer a friend, you'll find some posts where people made up accounts and tested this out.

You can invite up to 5 new "recruits" .. which if you party with all of them .. they all get triple the experience up to level 60.
This is currently active and can be used in the account management page. See http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=20588 for the FAQs.
