Macros and Cooldowns

I want a macro that casts Blast Wave when it's not cooling, and then Arcane Explosion if Blast Wave isn't ready. Can this be done? I tried

/stopcasting
/cast Arcane Explosion

but to no avail.

I like macros. I am not an expert, but I don't suck at it. Try:
/castsequence reset=121 Blast Wave, Arcane Explosion, Arcane Explosion, Arcane Explosion, Arcane Explosion, Arcane Explosion, , , , , , ,
Just put in seconds the cooldown of Blast Wave for the reset (I add 1 sec to make sure the cooldown clears and I don't get "Not ready" error).

This idea doesn't work for a number of reasons. First, Blast Wave has a 30 second cooldown, which is 20 global cooldowns. You can't fit the words "Arcane Explosion" 20 times in one macro. Second, the reset timer resets every time you use the macro. When you cast Arcane Explosion #12, the timer resets.

Holy hell. How are you not casting 1 single, not even 1 single spell other than that for how long, 3 minutes, 3 hours? What about GCD? If it is like 1.5 sec, then you can't even cast a lot of AE's in that time. Can you not calm down, and not be a spamming person and just mash the button like 10 times at most? If you have to spam, just put it on a seperate button. Wow, spam much?

basically this macro works on two principles.. first when you tap this it will cast one of the random spells above (80% change to cast blast wave with this one in particular - so one of your clones might not cast it)
then whenever a spell is on cooldown it will exclusively cast one from the others available ie bypassing blast wave and casting AE :)

yep it works, using a

/castrandom Blast Wave,Arcane Explosion

myself for aoe (cause i could add more Blast Waves to get a higer chance to start with the Wave)

yeah, /castrandom works fine for skipping cooldown spells... I've used it for mindless grinding on my warrior. -- Didn't think of that.
