View Full Version : Suggestion: Make the new refer-a-friend account links retroactive (at least 90 days)

I'm sure I'm not alone as a new multiboxer who is feeling jipped by this new refer-a-friend deal. If I had started multiboxing just 2 months later I would be able to have 4x as many 70s as I do now for the same amount of time. Obviously there's nothing they can do about that, but I don't think we are unjustified in asking for the xp-bonus and linking to be retro-active for the past 90 days, so either you get the full 90 days or a fraction thereof.
Either: You referred-a-friend 40 days ago, you now get 50 days of linking.
Or: You referred-a-friend 40 days ago, you now get 90 days of linking.
Either would be more fair than NOTHING imo. This is especially true for the brand-new refer-a-friends who registered their new accounts very recently. Some people did this no more than 2 days ago and now have nothing to show for it. It's too late.
Please take the time to help out and sign this petition, e-mail support, call customer service... every bit helps.

Their general stance on this kind of thing is that you knew what you were getting into at the time, so it isn't applied retroactively.

I know what their stance is. I'm wanting them to change their stance.

Well, I'm in exactly the same boat as you are - I could have leveled my Blood Elf Team, Undead Team and my 5x70 Shamans for what it took to level the Shammies.
That said, I think you've got buckleys of getting Blizzard to make this retroactive.
Stop playing the victim? Hate people who act like you, always feeling left out of something and always demanding to get what they 'deserve'. You deserve squat, it wasnt active when you could have used it, get over it.

Who's bed did you get up on the wrong side of? :(He brings it a bit blunt, but lets face it he's right.
Blunt it was, wasnt trying to be offensive, there just is no 'coochy coochy, aw kjoeeet' way of saying that

"Wasn't trying to be offensive"
I don't care that you don't agree with me, but I'm annoyed by your intolerance. Name-calling is always a good argument. We are all paying customers here. Maybe you think it's okay for new customers to be given absurdly overpowered benefits while current customers get nothing, but I don't.
This is a slippery slope. Never before has marketing so massively impacted gameplay. Vanity pets and mounts and free days of playtime are one thing... they work as incentives and do not give any player a real advantage over any other. But now marketing is actually impacting gameplay. What's next? Maybe RAF's should be given a full set of epics when they hit 70? Or maybe they should just start at 70?

My main account was opened the first day of release, my 2nd account a year later. The rest are at least over a year old. I'm screwed :D
Would be nice to get a boost from 40 to 60 with these alts. Oh well.

Open 4 new accounts. account 5 opens account 6. account 6 open account 7 etc.
Then transfer toons from account 1,2,3&4 to account 6 throuh 9.
Voilą, you have the xp boost :D
Would cost you a couple of bucks, but compared to the time saved, this would be totally worth it in my eyes atleast. (depends how tired you are of leveling, I've leveled up 5 singles to 60, then 3x5 toons to 70, so I'm quite bored of it)
Blizz has to draw a line somewhere. No matter where they cut off the new benefits, the people just on the other side will feel that they got screwed.

I think it's great they are finally offering something like this. I am a little peved that I already have my 5 accounts and have lvld quite a bit in them. but meh..
the real problem is that blizz does not reward it's long term customers with anything at all! which is imo appaling. sure expansions and new dungeons are in some respect that, but it benefits all players.
I know this game is about pve mostly.. but omg.. pve shouldn't mean grind fest.. they made the 1-60 faster, which was imo overdue by around 3years! (great but way overdue) 60-70 is okish tbh as you should take longer to get to the top
what they failed to think of is a way that you can reward new players but also players that already have one lvl 70 or ten.
I don't know how many times I've suggested it on the suggestion forums, but it would have been so easy to implement a system that made your alts (if you so wished) gain xp at 150% (if you have one lvl 70) 200% with 2, 250% with 3 and 300% with 4 or more
The only problem is that rewarding veteran players doesn't increase subscription numbers.

It sure as hell maintains them though. Which in the long run is more beneficial anyways. 1 subscription that stays for 2 years > 1 that only stays for a year.

my 4 shammies are 45 atm, im dropping them and starting a fresh shammy on the veteran account, and referring 2 accounts with 2 new shammies, and ill hit 70 inside a month i think, add these 3 to my main 70 shammy and gtg, might come back and do 3 locks, then 3 mages, this thing is magic for me, i understand the loss for the already 70 guys, but lets face it, its great news for new boxers.
