View Full Version : Synergy - mouse getting stuck one side or the other

Probably a small mistake in how I've set it up, but I've got two computers and two monitors both with Synergy, and from time to time, the mouse will not be able to move from one screen to the other. Not a major problem when it refuses to go from main to secondary, but getting stuck on the secondary sucks.
I'm new to the whole dual-boxing thing, so any advice or tips are helpful. This forum is awesome! I've already learned quite a bit.
I'm using Synergy and Multibox at the moment. Bought keyclone, but it kept locking up when I tried to do things like load keymaps.

if you have any problems with keyclone, please drop me a PM and i'll see how i can help. or you could call, 7p-11p M-F, 10a-11p SaSu ... unless i'm watching football or entertaining ;)
how are you loading the keymaps? have you tried making a simple keymap and making sure that process is working for you?
the keymaps have been pretty stable... except for one instance where a person was loading a keymap generated by another person on another machine (if i could see the keymap file, i might be able to figure out why it's being a problem)

One thing I noticed about Keyclone is when I close my Wow.exe instances before closing Keyclone, it crashes if I use the keyboard. Aside from that (which is no big deal), Keyclone is hands down some awesome coding for 10 bucks. Thanks!

Is keyclone really meant for multiple computers, or more for multiple instances on one comp? From reading the tutorial, that's sort of the impression I got. Unfortunately, I wasn't really able to get it to work well beyond getting one computer to show up on the other's GUI and vice versa, and by then had found Multibox which did what I needed.
I would start up keyclone on box1, type in the IP address of box2 and it would show up, along with a generated name that I could tell was for the instance of LOTRO that was running on box2. That was as far as I got, so I would try defining a keymap and loading it, and it froze every time. Looks like a nifty little program, but not for the raw newb.

@ticks
are you running the latest, v1.7d?
@foolius
keyclone is geared for multi-instance and multi-box. you should be able to connect the keyclones, then add the programs. once that is done, you should be able to type into one and see it on all the others. if that is not happening, try running notepads instead of your game and testing that way. (this would be a general windows test) some games try to inhibit multi-boxing via key-injection
generally, keymaps are not needed for common usage. they are useful for mapping keys to different keys on different clones.
as for LoTRO, as i understand it, InnerSpace by LavishSoft might be needed to allow keyclone to work properly. (disclaimer: i have never used InnerSpace.. i am going by the reports of others)

Actually, that was pretty much what I was doing, and I did try notepad, but I got no result at all, so thought there must have been something in the setup I was missing. I only tried loading keymaps in a sort of key-mashing frenzy at that point :)

it wasn't working with notepad? ok.. that's just weird.
one thought.. when you add each notepad.. DO NOT click on the titlebar, menu, or frame... you MUST click the white edit area in the center. the other areas are different windows, which you do not type into.
if its still a problem, give me a call or drop me your number via PM and i'll try to debug/get it working for you.

Of course, the easy solution to my original problem is to set up a hotkey in Synergy for quick switching to each screen. It seems to be a problem with Synergy and Multibox working together, though. Oh well, the quick fix is in, so back to the game :)
