I had a guildmate of mine ask me if it was true if mages could float from Teldrassil (NE starter area) via "Slow Fall" all the way to Darkshore? I was like... "I've never heard that, I dunno."
Once, a long time ago with a high level druid, I successfully swam from Ru'theran Village all the way to Darkshore without dying... but for a mage to slow fall from Teldrassil to Darkshore???
So I yanked my level 64 gnome mage over there and tried it... and by Golly... it's friggin' true! I have quite a few pics of it, but I'll just post these two:

I landed by the graveyard in Darkshore with full health! It was a lot of fun! I've been playing this game for over 3 years now... and I love that I'm STILL finding new things that are exciting!! :D

I did something similar a year or two ago.
Back then (dont know if it is still possible) you could wall jump into Mount Hyjal (the world zone)
This is incredible high above the ocean level. From here I activated levitate (priests slow fall) and jumped down the clif on the very top of the mountain. I landed a bit outside the docks in Darkshore. Quite fun :D

Did you have to cast Blink at all to accomplish this? That's the only difference I'd see between a mage and a priest.

No I didn't blink. I did use my epic mount to get a running start but you don't really need that I think.

I jumped off Teldrassil on my Horde Paly.
I didn't get too far though (landed next to the village at the base). ;) It was still great fun though. Very long fall lol.

I wonder if you can do that from Hellfire - KJ Throne and float accross do the south part of Netherstorm.
You can probably use that Jumper Help quest items + Rocket boots to start?

I did this one, only on the other side of the world tree. With my Undead mage up there (this was pre BC, fun times getting past all the guards and the large trees!). Then I hauled ass and jumped off, hoping to land on GM Island or at least within swimming distance. I died from Fatigue before I even reached the water.
Something interesting however, if you want a perfect fishing spot just jump off on the other side and ice block before you land. You now have a small private beach where no one would ever find you. As for dark shore, you can get there with Nog from Gadgetzan, it’s a fun trip. You can die to invisible lines like floors that kill you, some times you can bottom out in mid air on those "lines/floors".
In AB in Lumber mill I used to enjou getting the speed boots, then running a jumping off, landing at Black smith. while playing my old shaman I loved it when gnomes tried doing that *Purge* *splat* *grin*

ooooh never thought about the Lumber Mill to Blacksmith trick.... I gotta try that!
I also love to jump from the IF airport or the highest point in the game above IF and slow fall to the farm at the Wetlands... or just keep floating down to Menethil Harbor. Would be an excellent and sneaky way for a horde to get into MH hehe (i land on the Inn roof or the Blacksmith roof always)

Then there is that tunnel that begins at the farm above Menthil and leads to...the sky. I have not found a way to survive that jump. You just die in mid air.
