90 days of quickness for any new accounts. Nice way to get ready for Wrath. I've been dual boxing long before I knew of this site and have recently purchased three more battlechests. Time to get a crackin!
"What in-game benefits do we get while the accounts we play are linked? 1. Characters on both accounts can summon each other once per hour.
2. While adventuring with your linked friend/family member, you will each gain triple experience and honor.
3. For every two levels the new player earns, the new player can grant one free level-up to a lower-level character played by the veteran player."

OMG I am sooooooo fuming right now... less than a week ago I got my 3rd account and used recruit-a-friend. And NOW they pull this crap and add all this extra stuff... Why did they do it now? Ugh... I am going to be calling up Blizz tomorrow bc it's total BS that I just missed the train by less than a week. I mean, if I had started my 3rd account 1+months ago I wouldn't be upset but this is bullcrap X( X( X(

This kind of thing could make an absolute gimmick out of multiboxing, as if it weren't turning into a huge fad already. When will the barrier to entry for multiboxing reach nothing?
I just got my 3 newer accounts less than a month ago, 2 of them got linked up properly, 1 got lost in the mix. I just got off the phone with Blizzard and it seems like they won't do anything about it after the fact.

Zolo is nerfed.
Welcome to last week.
Besides that, you wouldn't get triple XP anyway. Boosting means one character sees gray mobs. If either character sees gray mobs, there is no 3x XP.

W.R.T boosting with a 70 + low level alts.
-- relevant portions of the Blizzard support article --
Criterion 1: What in-game benefits do we get while the accounts we play are linked?
2. While adventuring with your linked friend/family member, you will each gain triple experience.
Criterion 2: Do I always gain triple experience while I am linked to my recruit?
No, only when you are partied with a character on the linked account and both players are present when slaying the monster or completing the quest. Also, if the two characters are not the same level, only the lower-level character is given the experience boost.
Criterion 3: Do normal experience rules apply?
Yes, if a monster is trivial to either player, no experience boost is given.
-- relevant portions of the Blizzard support article --
Scenario:
Account 1 has a 70. Account 2 has a level 20, Account 3 also has a level 20 and is linked to Account 2 via refer-a-friend. The L70 and 2 L20s go to SM and kill some L38 mobs.
Criterion 1 : Are the linked accounts adventuring together? YES.
Criterion 2 : Are both the linked accounts present when slaying a monster? YES. Are both the linked accounts playing characters the same level? YES.
Criterion 3 : Is the monster grey con to either player? To this question, I say NO, since it's clear to me that every other question so far that refers to either/both/two/etc is only referring to the two linked characters. Since a L38 mob does not con grey to a L20 then the XP would be tripled.
See also this point:
Is quest experience tripled too?
Yes, but only if the quest was not trivial (gray difficulty) for either character.
If I take my 70 and help the L20's complete a quest, do they get an XP boost? Yes, because the quest does not con grey to *either* character - meaning, the two linked characters.
I just got my 3 newer accounts less than a month ago, 2 of them got linked up properly, 1 got lost in the mix. I just got off the phone with Blizzard and it seems like they won't do anything about it after the fact.
They won't do anything about the one that "got lost in the mix" or they won't do anything about any of your accounts because it was before this change?3 of my 5 accounts are linked up in some way. 2 of them are SoL according to the guy on the phone, but I don't try very hard. Just bummed because 2 of the accounts are not going to be able to keep up. Oh well.

The high level + 2 low level linked character boosting topic has been tenatively answered by Syndri
Going back to this:
Q u o t e:
Question #1:
Account1: lvl 70
Account2: lvl1
Account3: lvl1
Account2 recruits Account3. Account1 groups with 2 and 3, running them through low level instances. Do 2 and 3 get increased XP? The wording of the faq says the mobs must not be grey to the invitee nor the invited, but does not mention whether an unrelated 3rd person of much higher level will break the xp gain.
Present response: Experience would be mitigated by the presence of a higher level character; however, the mitigated experience would be tripled due to the link. Remember, if one of the linked characters is lower than the other, only the lower level one will receive the XP boost.
This is being tested currently. If the response changes, I'll let you know.

lol at me
I created my new account only to transfer off the only 70 I still play (my prot pally) on the main account. Nobody to give the mount to. And I don't want to play anyone one the new account because that is where the boosting pally is. Though I could level them and move them off later I guess.
Plus my accounts show as linked but with 0 days remaining. Need to look into that.
Actually. If you want multiples of new classes it would be worth it to refer new accounts and create them, level them, move them back to a main account.
The most you would pay is $40 for a battlechest and 2 months play time - if you played all 90 days. If you pay 2 months you get 1 month free on the main account. Plus the transfer back. So $95 over 3 months per account for 3x leveling speed. And this is ongoing so you could do a couple everytime your budget allows for it. Hmm hmm hmm

I don't get it. Someone asks on the official forums, blue confirms it and yet y'all are saying it's broken and will be nerfed?
Blue said it works for now and is being tested. As in, we now see how this can be used to get xp much faster than we anticipated so if the test team comes back with xp/hr figures that are too high we will nerf it.

I somehow doubt this will be nerfed (well, maybe the boosting with a 70 part, if it actually works for 3x XP right now) because Bliz wants to sell the most copies of WotLK. Since WotLK requires players to already have a level 70 character to experience the expansion, they want as many players as possible to be at 70 this fall, even if it means a bunch of multiboxers are going to "use" the system to boost alts. More levels for us, more levels for new players, and more sales for Bliz.
WotLK isn't like the GuildWars horizontal expansions, where they were more of a sideways expansion with a little extra added on top. WoW expansions are nearly completely vertical - expanding the depth of end-game content rather than the width of world content.. if that makes sense.
Very casual players (those who haven't hit 60) have little real benefit for TBC other than a new race and 1-20 zone, one new profession, and access to the rival's exclusive class (paladin/shaman). It's going to be more of an extreme for WotLK since there won't be any "very casual" content. No new race, class, or (most likely) profession accessible at level 1. There's no point for the new casual players to even buy the expansion without this leveling "help" from Bliz.

It doesn't stack, but triple xp time won't use rested xp, so theoretically you'll have max rested when hit 60.

That's what I was saying. I believe the "boosting with a 70 who is not involved with refer-a-friend" will be nerfed since it continues to give 3x the XP. It's personal opinion at this point, but judging by Syndri's responses it doesn't sound like the dev team anticipated that.

Use the Refer-a-friend from one account and create a trial account. Then create 2 L1 Gnome Warlocks on each account and a 3rd L1 Gnome Warlock on an unlinked account. I have a L70 on a 4th unlinked account.
Solo kill a L1 wolf on each L1 toon : 50XP
Group unlinked L1's and kill a L1 wolf: 25xp
Group linked L1's and kill a L1 wolf : 75XP (3 x 25)
Group all 3 L1s and kill a L1 wolf, 19XP for unlinked, 57XP for each linked (3 x 19XP)
Group a L70 with one L1, kill a L1 wolf : 1xp
Group a L70 with both linked L1's and kill a L1 wolf : 3xp

Additionally, Summon a Friend as well as Grant a Level are available from the right click menu on the character portrait.
Summon a Friend appears to be a spell you cast, ~3 second cast time, upon which the target gets the "foo is summoning you to blah, [accept] [cancel]" dialog just like the other summon spells work.
It seems that granting a level gives you however much XP is in your current level, although there is no entry in the log for the XP gain. I had 206 XP in level 2 and granted myself a bump to L3, upon which I still had 206XP.
One more thing - the Grant a Level feature does not work over long range, I needed to summon my alt out to my location before I was able to grant him a level.

Yes, if a monster is trivial to either player, no experience boost is given.
The difference is, my L1s are linked to each other, while your L1s are linked to your L70. Since the mobs/quests are grey con to your 70, you will not get any XP boost.
Try creating a L1 on your L70's account and group up, then try again.

WALL-O-TEXT warning !
I didnt what to make a whole new thread on this so thaught i would add it to this one,
let me explain when i first heard about this i had just started makeing my second shaman group on a new realm blades edge eu, i made alot of mistakes on my troll shaman on ghostlands so i wanted a fresh start on a new realm, and its been alot of fun, i had gotten to level 22 in about 1.5 days played, really slow but i had been giveing them all unique proffesions which was a big time waste. Soon as i heard about this RAF offer i went out and brought 3 more accounts, didnt realise at this point you can now buy keys on the wow website, useful for future buyers i guess.
first test i used my 01 main account and 06 a new one, i leveled 2 characters in the gnome starting are to 6 in 8 minutes total played time, this is includeing makeing some crude simple macros like follow focus, assist focus cast...
i then set up all the other accounts and started to get 2 new shaman and a paladin up to join my other shaman, i decided with the trial level bonus feature why not make a full group of classes i may want to play later on. So now i have druid lock paladin shamanx2, i logged out last night at level 13 with less than 3 hours total played (its no record but alot of this was just messing about really finding out the potential of this).
Quests giveing you triple xp is somthing i can see being nerfed in no time, maybe hotfixed as early as this weekend, im level 13 and ive probably done no more than 20-30 quests, alittle vaque but i was doing so smaller bring this to.. quests which give trivial xp but lead to some beefy quests.
getting 2300xp for a quest at this level is insane, i got nearly a full level just handing in 2 quests at one point.
In my honist opinion i think blizzard are now more aware than ever that the player base is capped and the only way to make more sales is to encourage the people who have a single account to start to box.
this is truely crazy and loveing it alot, thaught i would share this with you.
if buying new accounts seems abit mental or makeing a new character seems too much, you can always make a new account as a recruit and then transfer a character accross (then cancel the old account) and still benifit totally, sadly this wasnt an option for me as i chose to play on a brand new realm so transfers arnt avalible.
if your characters are over 50 i really wouldnt bother with this as the link effect currently only lasts to 60. (i cannot see them changeing this to 70 as it would make boosting a DK to 70 soo freaking easy when wrath comes out)
summon feature is very nice as well you can pretty much bring any race you want to any starting area, i was makeing summon characters on different accounts just to get all the characters where i wanted them to start leveling.
if you have any questions at all please feel free to ask ill do my best to answer.
btw not sure if this has been mensioned before or not but when i was sorting out a raf from my main account it said that accounts 3 4 5 had already accepted and paid full 2 months sub and i could now claim my free mount, so im guessing that if you have used your account to recruit another person at any given time (even before this change) if they had accepted the invite and payed you will be able to redeem your free mount. hope this helps everyone.
