Sit back my friends and enjoy a tale of revenge.
About a week ago, when my Shaman team was around level 63, I was questing in the Bone Wastes of Tekorak Forest. The quest I was on was one near and dear to every multiboxer's heart, a kill quest. Now these usually don't take all that much time for a multiboxer, at least not a five boxer like I am, and I was chugging along quite nicely. Along comes a Belf Priest by name of "Lawled" and he starts to follow me. Now I am use to horde following me. They are currious just like Alliance but the Alliance can ask me questions where as a member of the Horde has to figure out what I am doing by watching me, though sometimes they just /spit and go on their merry hordie way. So Lawled follows me for about five minutes before it happens the first time.
Being on a PvE server there is not much he can do to grief me but there is one thing that really tends to piss me off, the kill steal. Lighting Bolt being the most mana efficient spell this is what I usually open up with and the mob level was such that most the mobs go down with the first volley. The first time he threw an instant cast spell on a mob that I was about to unleash Lingtning Bolt on, thus sealing the the kill from me, I figured it was an accident. The second time it happened I gave him the benifit of the doubt and though "hey mistakes happen". But the third time in a row it happend and he LOL'd at me... well, I knew I had a griefer on my hands.
Previously while following me around and NOT killing my mobs he had, in turn, challenged each and everyone of my toons to a duel. I, of course, had no-duel turned on so I hardly noticed it but he did the chicken emote when my mod declined his kind invitation to duel. After him stealing my kill three times in a row I decided to see if he would fall for the ol' "one toon flagged" ploy but he mearly laughed. So I challenged him to a duel, beat his ass handily with only the use of my main (he was only a holy priest after all) and then ran off to get more kills for my kill quest. He healed up and proceeded to follow me around kill stealing when he could again. If I saw him in the area I would open up with Frost Shock so he had no chance to steal it from me but a couple of times I deliberately targeted the biggest mob in the area and began to cast lighting bolt, watch him come up and do his thing but then I would jump my toons to cancel the spell, thus leaving him to fight (as a holy priest) the biggest mob in the area. This would tie him up long enough for me to get a few more kills in.
I had already opened and then canceled a GM ticket on him for griefing... canceled because I am not sure off hand if what he was doing would be concidered griefing by GM's. I think they would have to follow us around for a while and watch him concistantly do it to even prove that it was intentional on his part and even then there is no guarentee that they would do anything about it. I figured I woudl just finsih my quest and move on. Which I did.
As the next few days unfolded I would run into Lawled several times, he appeared to be leveling on about the same scheduel as I, and everytime he would steal a few of my kills, LOL and move on his way. This slowly built up a fury in me as I wasn't about to waste my time retaliating in kind do to the fact that I want to get my toons to 70 ASAP and to the fact that I hadn't taken the time to check to see if it was considered griefing or not and I didn't want to get into any kind of hot water. But it seriously irk'd me and was slowly building a fury deep in my gut. I think the thing that most grated was the freakin' Belf's laugh when he would do the LOL emote each time... damn did Blizz do a great job making Belfs sound like jack holes.
For this next part of the story you'll have to know who Corki is from a series of quests in Nagrand. It's alliance side only so I'll give a bit of history. Corki is a NPC character based, I think, off the character of the same name from the TV show "Life Goes On". Corky, and the actor who portraid the character, has Down Syndrom. Not to put too fine a point on it, he is a bit slow. Apparently so is this NPC in game because the kid keeps getting caught by Ogres and his father is constantly asking you to go free him (the quest chain is quests long, each time you have go free the little bastard from Ogres).
So I am in the cave just south of the Ring of Blood in Negrand, on the second part of this quest chain, freeing Corki from yet another group of Ogres hell bent on eating him, when along come Lawled. He is grouped with a level 70 Belf hunter and are collecting boxes for the horde. My quest is to free Corki but it's also to kill 25 mages and 25 warriors. Lawled sees me... laughs and proceeds to follow me around trying to kill steal on me. I've learned it's just best to frost shock first in these situations and not worry about mana, he'll get bored eventually and leave. BUT THAT GOD DAMNED LAUGH IS DRIVING ME UP A WALL. Seriously, it reverberates off the cave walls and penetrates deep into my skull.
So I figure I'll just free corki for now and come back later to finish up the kill quest after Lawled and his friend leave. I work my way back into the deepest part of the cave and Lawled is right on my ass every step of the way, stealing about every third kill. I free Corki and I am out of there, I am not going to hearth but I'll just work my way back out and move on.
So I am fighting my way out and past me runs Lawled and his hunter friend... FLAGGED! I actually just sit there in stunned amazement for a moment. This has got to be a trap, I think to myself... but if so it's an excellent trap because the bait is too damned good to pass up.
I target Lawled (he has to go down even if this is some kind of trap) cast Elemental Mastery (you know what this is if you have even one shaman) and cast Chain Lightning.
Lawled goes down like a donut at a weight watchers convension. His friend the hunter has resisted a lot of the damage but he goes down shortly after.
I am ESTATIC... and am NOT about to wait around for retaliation from them or their guild so I Ansetral Recall my ass out of there to saftey. While waiting for the PvP flag to go away I start thinking to myself. What was their purpose in flagging? They had no chance on taking me... not unless they got the jump on me which is pretty damn hard on a PvE server. What could have possesed them to flag? And actually I felt kinda bad taking down the hunter, he had really done nothing to me.
I start going through the combat log. I was happy to see that Lawled got hit by some serious dps before dropping. Then I scrolled up a bit further.
THEY HAD KILLED CORKI! I quite literaly fell off my chair laughing. I could see in my head how it played out. Lawled thought Corki was an ESCORT QUEST. He saw me free the little shit Corki, figured to himself, well I'll fuck with this guy even more by making him fail his quest and it was obvious by the combat log that the hunter had joined in.
Here is the best part... Corki isn't an escort quest. The momment I opened the cage my quest was completed. They killed the little retard for nothing.
I am still laughing over this whole insident.
In fairness I must mention that Lawled, when I took him down, was at half health. But if you are reading this and thinking to yourself that the out come would have been differnt if Lawled was at full health... well don't fool yourself. Only two of my Chain Lightnings landed on Lawled, each critting for over 1900 each and none of it was resisted. If he had been at full health he would have had only 5145 in health.. do the math. That guy was dead even he was full health and buffed.
