Pally Eqiupment Help

I noticed when trying Mech that my pally is still weak and not that great a tank. I am shooting to do heroics, but feel I am not yet ready to tank heroics. Also my 4x Shammy DPS team is not ready to DPS in heroics, even in some normal 5m instances tehy seem weak.

What gear should I get to help me better tank and DPS on the shammy team? Do you have a recommendation of the first thing and second thing I should go get?

Well PvP Gear is always a good start for your shamans :)

Would I be able to tank heroic instances with my gear? What is the minimum armor, spell damage, mitigation and so on that I should have before trying heroics?

Did you even go to the link and read it that Duane provided?

490 defense, 485 at a minmum to be uncritable in a heroic.

Close to 102.4 % avoidance as you can get.

10k health, 4-5k mana.

12k armor

And somewhere close to +200 spell damage

I mostly agree with NevadaGuy, but you will need an excellent healer with those bare minimums. You should do a forum search. Once upon a time I replied to a post with 10 things you can do easily to get ready for instance tanking. Mostly quest or rep rewards.

My pali might be a good starting point as far as gear goes, he has just quest and normal instance gear. He's tanked a few heroics without too much difficulty, will be better once I get a new shield though.
