I just got my first 5 boxing team of shammies up and running and so far its great but I just realized a problem. One of my accounts was gifted to me by my buddy who quit. Do I need to buy another account in my name in order for it to be legit?

Yes you are correct.... but i suspect you already knew that.
All accounts you play must be in your name. Stop playing that account and go get another one of your own.

everyone would recommend buying another account, or dropping down to running 4. As using any account not under your name is breaking the Rules. With you multi-boxing you are more likely to be caught with all the attention you will get and reports happening( reports happening when you are totally LEGIT are awesome sauce).

Dropping down to 4 may not be such a bad thing. I mean especially if you are already close to 70.

The day i read here that you could get banned for that I imediatly bought 2 new accounts.
I think I would freak out that one day I'd get a mail from blizzard, so no chances here...

Buy a new account and boost him up using your other chars ;) Send any stuff from the buddys account to your new account.
I just got my first 5 boxing team of shammies up and running I guess that means your still low-level, so you havent lost much ;)

Nothing evil is happening here - I see no lock coming down.

One of my five accounts was a friends account when I first started multiboxing. My accounts were not banned but when I got home from work one day my family and all of my furniture had been taken :(
Get your own accounts, it's not worth it. I have to level a new family AND we have no place to sit.

On the the topic, definitely get a new account. NOW. I went through a similar thing, since I was ignorant enough not to address this until I was lvl 70 (see YAANT - Yet another account name thread (no accounts locked) ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=89711') ). My story had a happy ending, but it's always better to be on the safe side (and having to pay with gaming cards = sucky).
