Just added another SATA II HD and the performance increase is insane. Main account on one drive and 4 slaves on the other. Load times were cut in half, tested mounted run through Shatt during primetime (big circle) and only slowed down one time for the slaves to catch up. Thats unbelievable. I would almost compare it to going from 1.5 Gig RAM to 3 Gig RAM. Highly recommended if your 5 boxing on one computer!

I really wish i had done this when i first started boxing.... would have helped with the stress of going into capital cities for training and such.

couple questions:

Can you give the specs on the drive you added?

Did you just copy over a wow directory to that extra drive?

If you had two drives of different speeds, would you put the alts on the fast one or the slower one, seems to me the computer would be working harder for the alts, so they should go to the faster drive?

I have a main hard drive, a SATA II and I have a info drive, IDA drive. Would it be wise to copy over my WoW folder to my IDA hard drive? Also, just going solo, does moving WoW to a different drive than your OS speed up performance?

Question: What is the rest of your system? OS, RAM, etc.

I ahve 1 SATA drive in my computer and I'm thinking it is the only weak point in my setup. I have 4G system ram, nVidia GTX 280 w/ 1G RAM, Q6600 quad core (2.4GHz), Vista 32-bit, 2 17" monitors (going to one 30" soon), 500W power supply, and 1 SATA drive. I have seen a huger performance gain going from 5 individual directories down to just 1, but then bumped it up to 2 (1 main, 1 for 4 alts) and things are still good until I get around a lot of people in a major city. I use the Vista Performance Monitor and the only thing that gets maxed out is my hardrive (CPU never goes over 35% on each core, memory is good, etc.).

You think I should follow in your footsteps?
