So Bliz finally released two non-transferable (for at least 6 months) realms within the last week.. which means a clean server with no 70's.
There's Drakkari (listed at a Latin America server, so expect lots of Spanish in the channels, but the ping makes me think it's grouped with the rest of the east coast servers) for PvP. The highest level is around 45, and most players are under 35.
And then there's Quel'Thalas (also EST) for PvE.. the average player level is much less here.. 30 is about the highest level, and most players are under level 25.

I'm thinking of rolling up a new group on Alliance Drakkari (Alliance is very underpopulated so far), and perhaps learn more Spanish while I'm at it, although there's plenty of English speakers on there already. This is what I've been waiting for.. a chance to play on a server with a clean economy. Although I've considered rolling Quel'Thalas instead - since I've got enough PvP players, I'd be willing to roll PvE since new PvE servers tend to have higher longevity and popularity.. important considering the fresh economy. Anyone else interested in creating a multiboxer presence on either of these servers? The more I think about it, I'm leaning on going Quel'Thalas Alliance - it will probably have the popularity that Cairne has had since its April release..

...and once all the hardcore "speed levelers" hit 70 just to prove they could be the fastest.... it'll be a friggin ghost town.
Maybe on the PvP server, but look at the PvE server Cairne.. that server is still crowded and there have been 70's for a couple months, with no transfers into the server for another month at least. I know a couple people playing there and they love not having incoming transfers.

Rather than opening new servers, Blizz needs to start consolidating the low pop realms...

i still think they should start to allow pvp-rp transfers... it's not like leveling a char on RP and then switching to pvp (easier leveling?) is really hurting anyone....
plus, half the people on RP (my) servers are all 10-year olds that think they are hot shit for having a lvl 50+

sure people can farm gold on RP servers then switch and sell on PVP server for more profit, but that's against the rules anyways

Agreed. I multibox alliance on Cairne, which was opened late February 2008. The server is very much full, even though the population has already started to mature level-wise.

However, transfers will open in late August. It'll be interesting to see what that does to an already busy server.

Rather than opening new servers, Blizz needs to start consolidating the low pop realms...Well, the "new server" phenomenon is probably a better business model. They're only using blade servers for the hardware so the cost outlay isn't huge. Then they can kill off old servers and recycle the hardware and make new servers, which draws people from old servers again, so they can kill off more old/ghost-town servers and recycle the hardware and make new servers....

Obvious treadmill is obvious. :P

I'd be willing to start up an Alliance team on the new pve server. I'd probably start up a NE druid team. Bear, 3 Boomkins and a Tree. Can't start for another week or so though as I'm on holidays until then.

Rolled a Paladin, Priest, 3x Mage group on Quel'Thalas, which is also one of the 3 Latin America servers. Although my ping is generally well under 100ms, I'm getting a lot of random disconnects. More than a little annoying to have to log in every 30-45 minutes.

Well, got the group to level 10, and the player split seems to be about 50/50 for English/Spanish speakers. I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of temp bans here for racism. The Spanish speakers give out a lot of 'en espanol por favor' / 'gringo' comments, and the English speakers respond with 'there's no language law on servers, and nothing has stopped people from speaking spanish/french/whatever on the US servers.'

Aside from that, I keep my Spanish-English dictionary nearby and am picking up what people are discussing much faster than I thought I would.. interesting place so far if they can fix the disconnect problems.
