alright so long story short, my computer was stored in my garage for maybe about two months or so...
I get it back and hook it up, and, no signal to monitor....

so i try another monitor as well as my television, no signal, so my first thought it, maybe the video card is out?
so i take out the video card and plug the monitor into the mobo (OBG) and i get to the boot screen with energy star and my mobo/cpu info and nothing happens.... it crashed

so i reboot and now i can't even get it to show the boot screen
i figure the mobo is gone bad so i went and bought a new one that's virtually the same as my old one
haven't had a chance to install it yet 'cause i still need to backup my HDD

anybody have any other ideas as to what might have happened or how i might fix my computer in another way?

Power supplies are usually more fragile than motherboards as they collect more dust from ventilation. Oil-filled capacitors are larger and more prevalent in PSUs, too, which can degrade rapidly when not stored in room-temperature, dry areas.

I would also recheck all connections inside. PS to MB, make sure all cards and RAM are properly seated. Poke your HDD. Give it a nice cleaning with some canned air. Windows gets all pissy if you swap out the MB so make sure to get everything you need off your HDD, which I think you are already doing, because there is a very good chance you will be reinstalling.
