Specs:

Proc: Q6600
Mobo: Asus P5N-E
RAM : 2GB
Video: BFG Tech 8800GTX OC
Monitors: 2 Acer 24" Wide LCDs

OS : WinXP

Background:
- I am running the latest GeForce drivers from nVidia.
- I have read some initial tutorials and have my card set to run my displays as a horizontal span.
- I am having maximizer launch two instances. One being 1920x1200 on the main monitor and the second being 1920x1200 (or 640X400 in a quadrant : tried both) on the second monitor.

Isssues:

- Low FPS and graphics glitches. My framerates are pretty bad (< 30 fps) in both instances when running both instances on seperate monitors. I also get a lot of graphics flickering at tearing in both instances. If I launch both instances on the same monitor they run very well with nice FPS and smooth graphics.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in Advance.

You are most likely setup for "Twinview" and need to be setup for "span".

I have tried it both ways Dual View and Horizontal Span with the same result.

I have tried it both ways Dual View and Horizontal Span with the same result. If you are running dual view and put accellerated graphics (3d) on the 2nd monitor in XP, your performance will go to crap immediately because it's software rendering.

If I launch both instances on the same monitor they run very well with nice FPS and smooth graphics. If you keep them on the same monitor, or enable the "Span" option properly, they will run nice and smooth.

If you get crap performance with it set to span, then something else is the problem. It could be your video card can't push the bandwidth to both monitors but I HIGHLY doubt that from your video card.

I'd double check span and make sure you aren't making a mistake in the setup.

UNCHECK 'vertical sync' in game

also, set your multisampling to "24-bit color 16-bit depth and 1x multisample" (i found that to be a big win)

you should also set your graphics to low details until you figure it out:

and if you are using keyclone, make sure to set your maxfpsbk to 5 and maxfps to 40 (adjust to your liking)

if you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a note.

have a great night,

Rob
