I've spent quite a bit of time on the forums over the last few days and have not found a guide for the keymapping part of keyclone. If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd sure appreciate it. I'm looking for a couple of useful examples of what the feature allows, and a brief, basic tutorial on how to set it up.
I purchased Keyclone on Saturday, and have been thoroughly enjoying my 3-Shamans =)

Update Time!
I've been playing my 3 Shammy's compulsively for the last week - what a blast! I think I can better state what I am asking about keymapping now that I've played a bit more.
I understand the basics of Macroing, and how to bind the macros to keys, and then how those keypresses are broadcast by Keyclone to the other clients.
What I don't understand is the purpose of the keymapping option in Keyclone:
How is it different from the macro/keybinding thing?
What are a few examples of how it would help my 3 Shaman?
What are the steps to setting it up?
Thanks for your time on helping me out - as much fun as I'm having already, I want to continue to improve and maximize my ability to play.

with a single type of character/class... keymaps are not very useful at all.
keymaps come in handy when you have multiple classes. this is due to the key layout for each class being different due to the different macros/spells. in such a case, instead of trying to squeeze all your keys into a single keyboard, you wold layout your keyboard normally for each class .. then map the keys to eachother, depending on the circumstance
one example would be to have a warrior, mage and priest.
you would define 'opening.salvo' as the hotstring... and tie it to different keys for each class.
the warrior would trigger 5.. charge.
the priest would trigger 7... shield warrior
and the mage would trigger 3... cast fireball
if you are on the mage and hit 3... the priest will shield the warrior and the warrior will charge
i hope that makes sense. if not, drop me a note.
good luck,
Rob

Since I'm playing rogue and lock I'd love to find out how to set this up. I to have read through thousands of threads but all I see is reference to macros which I have right now. But this seems like the better way to go if I'm understanding it right! Please if you can will you give a link to a more descriptive explanation on how to set up?

i'm at work... so this is from memory:
1. keyclone/setup/keymap-editor
2. fill in description with character type... ie: mage or warrior
3. click at the bottom where is says <key>
4. hit the key you want this type of character to hit
5. click in hotstring
6. type in the name of the hotstring. do yourself a favor and do not use upper case or spaces. dots are good separators
7. hit the 'add' button to put it on the list
8. repeat until all keys you care about are defined... go to step 3
9. hit the save button and save it to your keyclone folder (ie: mage.kcl )
o if you need to remove a hotstring.. click on it in the list and hit delete
10. repeat for all classes. match up the hotstrings... and omit the hotstring if you want that character to ignore it
11. load it to your wow... you have 2 options...
11a. via a command (recommended) ... use the 'keymap...' button to find the appropriate keymap file
11b. or by right-clicking on the wow in the keyclone list... select 'load keymap'
i hope that makes sense. if not, drop me a note.
good luck and have a great night,
Rob
