Introduction
This should become a guide for anyone who wants to start boxing World of Warcraft. I'll try to keep it as short as possible, without leaving any needed information out. This means that if you want to know more about, for example the RAF mounts, you'll have to search for that yourself.
Accounts / RAF
You obviously need to figure out how many characters you want to multibox with. Every account needs it's own vanilla wow, The burning Crusade and The Wrath of the Lich King upgrade to get to level 80. To get the accounts, the best way is to 'recruit a friend.(RAF).' This way you'll get 300% experience gained on the account you recruited a friend from, and the account that got recruited, till level 60.
For additional info check the Recruit a Friend wiki ->RAF.
The best way to get the maximum use out of the RAF bonus is to make sure every account gets the bonus. So don't Recruit 2 new accounts from 1 base account. Account A recruits account B. Then Account B recruits account C. Account C recruits account D. Account D recruits account E. Depending on how many characters you want.
- 1. Log into your account at the World of Warcraft or Battle.net pages.
- 2. Select Recruit a Friend located under Promotions.
- 3. Review the 3-steps in the green boxes...
- 4. … and click the CLICK HERE TO RECRUIT-A-FRIEND button to start the referral process.
- 5. Fill in the Recruitment Form with the necessary information and click the Submit button.
- 6. Check your mail and follow the instructions.
- 7. Start up a second WoW client and log in.
Group setup
Every group setup is possible. So no need to ask if it's a good idea to start a group with X classes of Y etc. It's all about what you enjoy. The more roles or different classes you cover, the more complicated playing them will be. Having a tank, can be very helpful, since that's the rarest role.
- Stacking groupbuffs is something to take in consideration. +crit buffs, +haste buffs, +spell power buffs or +12% spell damage taken from balance druid.
- for pve you want a tank, a healer and 3 dps. (a tank + 4 elemental shaman can do aswell)
- for PVP your biggest concern is Crowd controlling. Fears, frost nova's to lock your team in place.
- Tremor totem from shaman can help VS fears.
- If you want a melee team, it's important to think about how you're gonna deal with slow effects, because you need to be able to lose the slow effects. Dispels, talented earthbind totem, hand of freedom are things that can help.
roles
- A paladin is the easiest class to tank with. Conscecration helps for easy AoE tanking.
- All healers can forfill the job. Allthough i wouldn't recommend a resto druid, because of the need of pre-hotting to outheal big amounts of damage.
- Mages, warlocks, elemental shaman and balance druids are the most popular dps classes, because of the simple dpscycle.
Teams that are popular
- PVE
- Aslong as you got a healer and a tank and 3 dps you're good to go. Having ranged dps might make things easier.
- 4 shaman
- 4 druids
- paladin, 4 shaman
- paladin, priest, 3 hunters.
- 5 druids. (feral tank, 3 balance druids, 1 resto druid)
- 1 Deathknight, 4 Retribution paladins. (mainly pvp)
Software
Keyclone and ISBoxer are the most popular programs to use for multiboxing. ISBoxer is considered to be the 'best', because of the versatility and options. Browse the forum and the wiki for more information on this choice.
