Tips and Tactics

  1. The key to this instance is getting your group in position BEFORE Thrall gets to the next pack of mobs and chaos erupts during the escape event.
  2. Whenever possible let Thrall tank one of the melee mobs, except for Wardens their fear is a group killer, and while he has that mob kill the rest. The mob that Thrall is tanking should still be alive, take this time to move your group into position for the next set of mobs and then kill it. If Thrall doesn't manage to hold aggro on any of the mobs just save one and bring it with you as get your group into position for the next spawn.
  3. This tactic is especially helpful during the transitions from the first bridge mob pack to the second and from getting from inside the church in Tarren mill to the upstairs of the inn.
  4. I have found that "/cast [target=Thrall] heal" does not target Thrall properly - to heal him via macro, I had to "/target Thrall", then "/cast heal"

Bosses

Lieutenant Drake

  1. Make sure to get your bombs to call Lieutenant Drake by setting the place on fire.
  2. Pretty much a tank and spank.
  3. His main abilities are:
    1. A Mortal Strike ability he will announce by saying "Time to Bleed!" but he doesn't hit that hard and it is not difficult to heal through.
    2. A whirlwind that does aoe damage, if he gets into your group just move the clones back. He remains stationary while he whirlwinds.
    3. Single target fear. Basically an aggro wipe and incapacitate combined. He will attack one of your clones, just be ready to heal them or be positioned far enough away that you only take a hit or two by the time he gets to your clones.
  4. If your group didn't have any trouble with Herrod in Scarlet Monastery you won't have any trouble with this guy.

Captain Skarloc

  1. Another relatively easy tank and spank, with the addition of a tank stun and the ability for Skarloc to heal himself. The hard part is keeping up with Thrall as he makes his way from the keep to the entrance gate where you actually fight Thrall.
  2. Packs of mobs will spawn as you progress to fight Skarloc. They will consist of a combination of a Warden, Sentry, Mage and Veteran. Warden's and Mage's are generally the first kill targets.
  3. There are four packs of mobs that spawn after you start the event:
    1. The first spawns outside the keep on the walkway. They will spawn a few seconds after Thrall kills the armorer and puts on his new gear. You do not need to be inside with Thrall after starting the event. Have your group already outside and in position to tank/kill the mobs when they spawn.
    2. The second group spawns between the keep and the pit about30 seconds after killing the last mob in the first pack. Make sure you have your group in position before killing the last mob in the first pack of mobs. Also make sure to fight them in an area where Thrall will run into them as he paths along. If you fight them to close to the pit, Thrall will run right by and engage the next set of mobs at the bridge.
    3. The third group is on the inside of the bridge and spawns as soon as you start the event(to keep you from kiting mobs outside the keep area) and will always have at least one Mage and one Warden. Again just have your group in position before killing the last mob of the second pack but be careful not to pull aggro early by getting to close or letting runners get over to this area.
    4. The fourth pack will always have either two Mages or two Wardens. Two Mages is most common and more difficult due to the curvature of the bridge causing line of sight issues if you don't bring your ranged damagers far enough across the bridge far enough to kill the Mages.
  4. After this you have a short break to drink while Thrall talks to Skarloc.
  5. Skarloc will have two adds with him, usually a Warden and a Sentry, burn them down quick and then start on Skarloc. Really easy tank and spank, especially with Thrall helping.
  6. He heals himself but it is interruptible in a number of ways.
  7. He will stun the tank at random intervals, but it is not an aggro wipe, just be sure to keep an eye on on your damager's threat during the stun.

The Epoch Hunter

  1. After riding over to Tarren Mill with Thrall you will fight three packs of humanoids.
    1. First pack is in the Barn
    2. The second pack is in the church
    3. The third pack is upstairs in the inn. After you defeat them thrall will talk to Taretha and the Epoch Hunter does not start until you talk to her.
  2. Before speaking to taretha and starting the event position your clones outside the inn where you want them for the fight. I position mine between the well and the small building in front of the church with the clones facing the Inn.
  3. After you start the event you will fight three waves of dragonkin.
    1. The first wave spawns in the middle of the square and consists of two melee mobs and a caster. Kill the caster first.
    2. The second wave will spawn immediatley after the last mob of the first wave is killed or two minutes after the first wave whichever come first. The second consists of two melee and a caster and spawns near the orchid.
    3. The final wave spawns farther outside the square towards the flight master. It will consist of three melee mobs and one caster.
  4. After the final wave is killed you will have about 20 seconds out of combat to eat and drink before the Epoch Hunter engages Thrall and the fight begins.
  5. The boss has the following abilities:
    1. AOE knock-back. Make sure your tank has his back to a wall. If you use pets or elementals to tank be careful they don't knocked all over as the boss will chase them and it can become very chaotic.
    2. Dispels all buffs every ten seconds. This is important for pally tanks especially, you will need to refresh Righteous Fury constantly to keep ahead in threat.
    3. Curse that ticks for 750 damage.
  6. Save any cooldowns you can for this guy, at the recommended level he is very tough for any group.
