Level Cleared - Group Composition - Short Comment
67 (Tank), 3x Shamans DPS (Level 66, 66, 70 (badly geared)), 66 Priest
Tips and Tactics
Recommend level 67 or higher to clear this instances if you don't have the typical group formation (tank/healer/3dps) because the first boss is very difficult for multiboxers.
I don't think this can be stressed enough. Unless you have a HoT healer or are very geared, this boss is EXTREMELY difficult for a multiboxer with 4xShaman and 1xTank regardless of level.
Also, while clearing trash, the Elite Draenei spawn various types of mobs and one of them casts Possession. You need to watch for these and burn it down as quickly as possible or it's a wipe.
Bosses
Shirrak the Dead Watcher
- Abilities:
- Aura that slows down cast speed. Aura gets worse as a character is closer to the boss. 35 yards is about 150% or so cast speed reduction, melee range goes up to like 400% or so. Get used to your spells casting VERY slow. Use instant casts when possible.
- Draws the whole group to melee range. you MUST have good keybindings to spread the group back out after this occurs, within 2-3 seconds.
- SHIRRAK FOCUSES ON %T. When this message shows up, he will focus on one of your 5, causing an aoe emananting from that character. This AOE does lots of damage, however, as far as I know, it doesn't damage the person being focused, just those within 5-10 yards of them. So if your characters are all spread out at least 10 yards from each other, they are safe.
- Ideal positioning, assuming 4 casters + 1 tank: wait for Shirrak to reach the far end of his patrol on the platform. He will stay there for quite some time (maybe 30 seconds?) giving you some time to position your casters at the near end of the platform. I use a series of 2 button presses to spread the 4 guys out in a line, relatively uniform distance apart. Once they are positioned, run in with your tank. Try to keep the boss as far from the casters as possible, while still allowing all casters to have range.
- Reacting to the group teleport: You have to move your casters FAST. I react to it by immediately hitting the spread-out-in-a-line button, then bringing the boss further back on the platform. By spreading out FAST, you are avoiding any catastrophic focus-bombs. After everyone's spread out, you can fix any facing issues.
- Use instant casts whenever possible: the best kind of heals for this fight are instant cast heals. On my holy priest, kept renew + shield up on my tank the whole fight, and the rest of the time i was always casting greater heals. These would take about 8 seconds to land.
- If your dps casters are shamans, it might be an option to bring the shamans into 20-yard range and just shock every time it's up for dps. I didnt' do this method, i left them at the same range as my priest and used lightning bolt for dps.
Exarch Maladaar
- Has a random secondary single-target shadow spell, so be ready to spot-heal alts. Also periodically spawns an non-elite add (which is like a clone of one of your characters), which die quickly. At 20% he spawns a big elite add that does a MS attack.
- I'd recommend tanking him really close to casters if you use a paladin (since the boss does no aoe), the adds will take consecrate ticks from the paladin right away, making tanking really easy. Kill the non elite adds when they spawn.... you should be able to burst down the boss very quickly after he spawns his elite, and mop up the elite after the boss is dead.
