    Default Shuttle comps for boxing?

I've been considering using shuttle pc's for a while now. Small and pretty damn handy.

What I've been thinking of is something like this:

    Barebone: SN85G4 Shuttle XPC Barebone
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional + Power DVD
Processor: Athlon 64 3200+ AMD CPU
    Memory: 1 GB DDR-400 (2x512 MB)
Hard Disk Drive: ATA 160GB Hard Disk Drive
Optical Drive: DVD +/- Dual Writer - black
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce FX5900XT 128MB
    Sound: onboard

    Would this be viable?

And of course, is there anything I haven't thought of while considering this? As in, downsides
    Work in Progress:
    Priest: Xloco
    Locks: Eenie, Meenie, Mynie
Mage: Moie ( Moe was taken -.- )

hmmm... if you are only putting one instance per box then i'd:

o drop the size of the harddrive and spend the savings on a raptor (10,000 rpm drive)... faster loads
o consider jumping to 256M of grfx memory (wow is gpu limited... mostly).
o get a USB2 external DVD drive, cheapest, and save on each box
o 1GB of system memory should be enough... just get the fastest possible for your mainboard
o and make sure they are well ventilated. maybe a top blow hole and definitely good fans

if you were doing more then 1 instance per box, then i'd definitely add more system RAM.

    edit:
checked prices on raptors... best was $120. a maxtor 160G SATA drive w/ 8M cache is only $36... raptor is definitely not worth it.

You DO NOT need raptors for a bare bones install. 1 gig of memory is fine assuming 1 WoW per box. The video card may not be as great... Id go with a 6600GT or better for 20-30 fps almost all the time.

    What fortuitous timing

Today, I'm picking up my first Shuttle PC specifically to replace an aging VAIO laptop. Initially, I intend to run a single instance of WoW, but when KeyClone becomes stable (with extended keys working consistently, etc) I intend to run two instances on that machine.

    My spec is:
    1 Shuttle SN27 P2
    1 XP Pro english
    2 1024 MB PC2 800 MDT (i.e. 2 gig)
    1 Sapphire Radeon X1950GT 256 MB
    1 400GB Samsung 16MB SATA2
    1 DVD-RW Samsung
    1 WLAN ASUS PCI WL138G V2
    1 AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400

I consider this to be significantly over-specced for WoW, but as with all my machines it'll boot into other OSes for development work. My only concern is whether a 256Mb graphics card is good enough for two instances of WoW, albeit with one almost permanently minimised.

If I run into any problems, I'll post here, but my current view is that these Shuttle PCs are an absolute God-send for people who are space-constrained and my ultimate intention is to stack 5 of them for 10 boxing.
