Default Switching specs and action groups

Does anyone have a good system for switching their characters between specs and action groups with keybinds? hunting down the right character and action group multiple times a day is starting to get old and I'm curious how other people handle the issue.

You can use a 'New Target Group Action' to add/remove characters from an ATG.

If you had a slash command to change specs.
And ideally to change gear sets too.

You could combine all three into one mapped key.

It would depend on your setup.
You could make your '1' (or main spam key) along these lines.
    - Do Mapped Key > Whatever > Target: ATG (Spec 1)
    - Do Mapped Key > Whatever > Target: ATG (Spec 2)

If you didn't have a toon in a given group, nothing happens.
If you have some in one ATG and some in the other, both actions happen to their respective targets.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

Have you looked at the Pro Config style?
One of the main benefits of its design is that it's actually pretty easy to switch specs (and use any character of any class/spec in any Slot in any team, etc), and you may not even need as many ATG's...

I am currently using just such a system, four step dps spam macros that say things like

    step 1:
if in priest holy cast smite
if in priest shadow castsequence reset=target shadow wordain, null

    step 2:
if in priest holy cast holy fire
if in priest shadow cast mind blast

    etc

So my main macros aren't a problem at all with dealing with the different ATGs, I do just need a reasonable system for switching atgs.

it looks like /usetalents [spec:1] 2; 1 is the format for spec macros, I'll experiment a bit with perhaps setting spec and ATG. I think I need to come up with a consistent system for making all of my spec 1s healing specs, spec 2s dps or something similar.

You can send Keybind A, for one role
    And Keybind B, for another.

Have the mapped key, that sends a keystroke action for Keybind A.
And then irregardless of that being Spec 1 or Spec 2, have the correct macro on that keybind for each toon.
Long term, having DPS being Spec 1 and Tank or Healing as Spec 2 might be a better idea.

But nothing says you cannot have Keybind A = DPS.
Which on toon one is a macro, switching to Spec 1 and on another toon is a similar macro, but which switches that toon to Spec 2.
