Default Time to stop using WoWhead

A post on the Blizzard forums to be careful visiting WoWhead.
    http://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20752227502

I suppose the site could have been hacked, but seems to me its been like this for awhile. Constant page reloads, dozens and dozens of ads, even malware ads.

WoW is getting more popular worldwide, but its less popular in the US and I think wowhead is just trying to milk as much as they can while they can.

This reminds me of Thottbot way back when, which i think also had a similiar problem and people stopped using it, and if i'm not mistaken Wowhead and Thottbot used the same database, interesting that after so long they have this problem again(if infact Thottbot had the same kind of issues, i'm not 100% certain).

I've been noticing this a lot recently with Wowhead. Thought it was just a sign of the times. I must say, it's no longer automatic for me to reference it for info like it used to be.

Firefox + NoScript + uBlock Origin, or Chrome + ScriptSafe + uBlock Origin. I had several virus/trojan warnings before I blocked the hell out of everything but the basic scripts on that site.

I sympathize with the sites that complain about lost ad revenue to ad blockers/noscript addons, but until the malicious script/ad swamp gets drained, nobody's gonna trust them.

I don't usually do this type of thing, but I work for Ghostery and our extension is for exactly this type of transparency / control:

Huh, and I've still been using Adblock Plus. I'll have to try out this ublock.

Oh yeah, forgot about that one, which I do indeed use as well. Thanks for the reminder!
