Default It's beginning to look a lot like upgrades

Pretty excited, this is my first build since my old Core 2 Duo setup. Thanks to MiRai in helping me pick out parts on a pretty tight budget, first box showed up today, tomorrow the rest will arrive.

    Parts list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MDLhhM

    CPU: 4790k
    Video Card: GTX 970

New PSU, Cpu cooler as well.

RAM and Motherboard show up tomorrow

    Very nice

Definitely can't fault the parts, are you planning to add a second 970 down the road?

Heh, that's pretty close to the parts list I've been looking at for a Christmas upgrade. I prefer Noctua heatsinks and Thermaltake PSUs but otherwise, yeah. Should be fun!

I made him purchase the motherboard that he did so that he has the option at a later time.

I think he went over budget actually, so we had to cut some corners, but it's certainly light years ahead of the stock Intel cooler. As for the PSU, I believe the G2 line is all made by Superflower, which is why EVGA backs it with a 10-year warranty (it was also on sale for ~33% off).

I have a G2 850 myself, and yes they're from Superflower. Rock solid PSUs. Those EVO coolers actually aren't anything to sneeze at, they manage to fit in smaller cases (Noctua D15 does not) and at a fraction of the price. Actually easier to mount different fans on these than some after market coolers I've dealt with as well (I love BeQuiet stuff, but their fan mounting solution for the Dark Rock Pro is pita).

Possibly, I'd really like to test out SLI at some point, this would be a good starting point.

I assumed it'd be out of my budget, which I kinda did go over a bit already.
