Question hw 10x boxing with this setup?

    hello

i m ready to buy components for new boxing single pc:

plan is to play 10x accounts on this setup. single pc. mainly ->pve for 10x.

my budget limit is 2k (euro)

    my choice:

    CPU: Intel 5820k
    RAM: ddr4 16 Gb
    Video: GTX 760 4Gb
    SSD: Samsung 250 Gb

and the rest of standard components: case, power supply, heatsink stuffs, hdd, dvd, motherboard gygabite x99, upgrade win 8.1(needed).

with these i m at my budget limit.

All the hardware i have (3/4 pc s were used for my old boxing) cannot be used (old ram ddr2 -ddr3, new 2011-3 is only ddr4).

could work with just 16 Gb ram and that video card (my experience tell me + video ram is good).

    Any suggestion is welcome!

    thx

What game were you going to 10 box?

If it's Wow - that probably won't be very playable, but it would work in pve only.
    Sweet* teams - <unGankable> - Kil'Jaeden US Alliance - 10x Shamans, 9x DKs 1x Pally, 10x Drews

I'm going to guess that the GTX 760 isn't going to be able to handle 10 game clients at a respectable setting, but if you play at a small enough resolution then anything is possible.

mmh ... main issue is video card.

    a) with dual gtx 760? ( with 5820k its 28 pcie lines setup). (400 euro)

    b) gtx 970 (360 euro).

    what is better?

    ps:
i ve found in your blog your impressive hardware setup ... gz!

and found really interesting yr thread about ramdisk. but ddr4 costs so much...

I've never 10-boxed, but I'm going to say the GTX 970.

    Hey Prega,

i'am 10 boxing too, but with GTX 970 , 16 Gig DDR3 and Win7. The GTX 970 can handle 10 Clients with no probs in 1920x1080. But my 16 Gig Ram are bottlenecking sometimes. Most times they run between 14-15 Gig, if you are on high populated Server, big battles or running Youtube, OBS , Fraps etc in background it will be maxed out.
Don't know how much better DDR4 and win 8.1 can handle this.

    oh great info, thx.

i did some test on old machine. with current game, 5 wow clients indeed fill all 8 GB ram. never seen ram under 83% load.

    i ve bought a second ddr4 modules -> 4x 4GB. (+200 euro sigh)
luckly my x99 mboard has 8x ram slots. so upgrade is easy.
system ram is now 32 GB.

like suggested by Mirai and by benchmarks for video card, i m going for gtx 970, like you

    buying all components online.

already received cpu, ssd, hdd yesterday.

    thx!

    Update to share:
today, finally, new machine is online: setup 5820k-32GB RAM-singleGPU970gtx.

amazing! launched 7 clients to low res in single screen, cpu 15/20% load, 6/7 GB ram load, new ssd samsung rocks!

unlucky with mboard: forced to sub it with amazon, here needed 10 days.
new one arrived today. and this one works.
after that, gone crazy with ram too. i have 8x4GB modules. bought 4 + 4, same model same brand but i ve got issues when i tryed to install them "randomnly".
quad channel needs all the same part number too ... at least with my mboard and BIOS.

    again... thx!
