    Default The Streaming Thread

    Khatovar Update August 2014 -

With WoD coming, I expect this thread is going to pick up again. By this point, most people should have found their way to the ISBoxer Streams or the Dual-boxing.com Commons. If you're going to be streaming, you are best off adding yourself to one or both of those. If you're looking for streams, those should be your first stop.

It's still perfectly ok to announce your streams here, but please be sure to include your stream's URL and broadcast time - I'll still come in and do housekeeping on the dead posts. New posts here remind me to come in and do that.

At this point the thread may be more useful for minor streaming help since that's the direction the thread goes when you take out all the "I'm live now! - edit offline" posts. By minor help, I mean little things like what services/programs, easy to answer questions and miscellaneous tips. Please do not post entire guides in this thread! They deserve their own thread, so write it up and you can link it here.

    MiRai Edit:
For those using XSplit, this is a handy guide:

Here's a handy list of multiboxing streams (out of the ones I have added to a list to check), filtered to only streams that are currently live:
    http://www.dual-boxing.com/commons/streams

I need to find a good spot to put a link + number of live streams or something on the front page.

Yeah, I didn't want to step on that project because I didn't know if it was ready. And I know there's probably people out there that stream so infrequently {like me} that requesting addition to the current Streaming section seems kind of wasteful.

I figured a temporary thread in the interim for just general announcements until that's good to go would bridge the gap nicely.

On a redundant note, anyone know how I can add my stream to the automatic shows who's streaming deal, or is that no longer working?

Edit: And streaming my druid team in about 5 minutes, probably until about 10 PM central.

Might I make a suggestion, Use Twitch, I checked out UStream and it is a ripoff. Twitch saves your vids after you streamed so you can get viewers check out your past streams later on. I opted for the Personal license of XSplit Broadcaster and its totally worth the money. Used it in beta and worth the full cost of use.

I will give Twitch a looksee - thanks!

Edit: Twitch seems ok, but the Xsplit tool they push seems really slow, doesn't seem to save the channel information so I have to reconfigure it every time, and since the trial version is gimped in many ways (or is it? I can't tell because the FAQ on the xsplit site is useless) it doesn't look worth the price. If I can find a free tool for streaming my desktop live I'll try that, but for now I'll stick with what works.

I used the Xsplit Broadcaster in the beta and liked it a lot.
I went with the professional version, as it wasn't that much more than the personal version.
As far as features go, personal and professional were about the same.

These are the settings I'm using: http://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/4...it-Broadcaster
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

Eh, I stopped using Xsplit and went with the good old VH many cam driver. Free and it works very well. I simply will not, ever, not even once, buy software where they gimp the free version so that I can't properly test it; for all I know the problems I had with Xsplit would not be solved by the full version. I don't mind a timed trial and am certainly willing to pay for good tools, but I need to actually be able to test them myself first.

So my set-up now is VH many cam, Adobe Flash live media encoder, and then it just goes directly to twitch. This seems a LOT faster than the Xsplit tool and also has the virtue of working properly etc.

I am also trying to find a good pugin for Wordpress that lets me show when my stream is on and when it isn't but so far it doesn't look like any such thing exists for Twitch, whereas with ustream it does. I'm sure there's a workaround but I need to sort it out.

Edit: I managed to sort it out. I used the embed code from the twitch tv site combined with a widget that would let me run code and now my blog displays the stream automagically. Yay for a totally free (albeit slightly complicated to find initially) set-up that saves videos, lets me stream easily, etc!
