    Default octopus: fail to connect

    Hello,

I am using 2 PCs, one with Vista and one with XP. I've installed 3.5 .NET Framework etc and octopus, but they can't seem to connect to each other. Every time I press connect, it always says:
Fail to connect to pc2:7612 where pc2 is the other pc's name. This happens in either direction.

Now, they are both in the same workgroup, and I tried to view them in "My Network Places". The Vista PC can see both, but the XP PC can't see the Vista PC. Either way, octopus still can't connect.
Should I type the IP address directly? If so, what do I type in? I am using a router, so their IP addresses are all like 192.168.1.something

    Thanks

Firewall issues, most likely. Verifying this is dirt simple: just disable it for a minute (ONLY if you're behind a cable/dsl hardware firewall/router!) and try to connect. If it works, you know where the problem is and you can add an exception for Octopus (port 7612) and be done with it.

Fixed it. Thanks for the advice. Yes it was a firewall problem.
